We know legal jargon can be confusing. Victims, defendants, and t loved ones need to understand what is happening in the criminal justice process. Even if you’ve never come into direct contact with the system, you may at some point, and it helps to have a working knowledge of common legal terms.

Yesterday, I was joined by law enforcement to announce that a 3-judge panel ruled in favor of our office’s efforts to fight illegal gambling devices. Since summer of 2022, we have seized more than 268 machines, $1 million in cash, and found ties to firearms and suspected money laundering.

Here are some more thoughts about jury duty. Some people don’t mind so much showing up, but they don’t want to be seated. We often see jury selection depicted in media where a person expresses some issue with serving, and they’re dismissed. But in reality, it’s not that easy. #juryduty #Memphis

A 19-year-old man tied to car thefts in Nashville and Memphis is being held on a $500K bond after our team argued he poses a continued threat to public safety. Bryun Watkins is charged with theft of property over $60K and vandalism after police say he stole a RAM TRX truck from Memphis on May 9.
