Very intense downpours over the Lower Keys as of 11:10 pm. Gusty winds, torrential rain, and plenty of lightning. Key West Int'l has a warning in place due to all the strikes. Almost 100 in 30 minutes.

11 PM #Gabrielle additional stats: Gusts up to 165 mph. Moving away from Bermuda but nearing the Azores by Thursday. Next advisory at 5 am.

High Altitude NOAA Recon as of 10:46 pm. Flight level winds at 108 mph. 15 nautical mile wide eye.

11 pm Advisory & Cone: Monster Hurricane #Gabrielle remains as a category 4 storm with 140 mph winds. The eye is roughly 15 nautical miles wide. Fortunately it should remain over open waters and be close to the Azores by Thursday.

The heavy rain that prompted a street flood advisory in Broward has moved offshore. NWSMiami canceled the alert.

Two waves with moderate to high chances for development in the Central Atlantic. On the road ahead, there is a high pressure system over the East Coast of the U.S., and the jet stream moving offshore. Hopefully these two features can keep the waves at bay.

The atmosphere suggests the jet stream and high pressure over the Eastern U.S.A. should help keep the two waves in the Atlantic at bay. We'll have the latest on-air and on-line at both WSVN 7 & ABCMiami

Most of the heavy rain across Broward County moved offshore. NWSMiami cancels the Street Flood Advisory.

One to three inches of rain have come down in highlighted area. A STREET FLOOD ADVISORY has been issued for parts of Broward until Sep 22 11:00PM. Avoid driving through flooded roadways

Strong downpours across Metropolitan Broward and a sliver of NE Miami-Dade are drifting SE. Over the last 30 minutes better than 100 lightning strikes have been detected.

Odd hurricane season so far. Only 2 hurricanes thru today, but both have turned major, those being Erin & Gabrielle. Its been 14 years since the last time it happened.

Scattered downpours impacting most of Broward County. At times drifting north, & at others to the east. May see the rain thru 9:30 pm.

8 pm Monday Tropical Update: Tracking Major Hurricane Gabrielle. 2 tropical waves w mid to high chances for development. We'll keep watching.

Aside from Gabrielle in the Atlantic, there are two other waves followed for development. The red "X", shows the present position of a wave. Once it reaches the red area, it'll get an 80% chance for organization. 50% for the 2nd wave.

A strong as Hurricane Gabrielle is presently, it should stay over open waters thru Thursday. It may come close to the Azores by then.

Impressive look at Major Hurricane Gabrielle. Clear eye, plenty of feeder bands, and top winds of 140 mph. Fortunately, it should stay over open waters.

Fall started this afternoon. It began with above average temps and soggy in spots. The rest of the week promises to be just as warm and wet.

11 pm Friday #Gabrielle Advisory & Cone: Stays at 50 mph, but forecasts show it should strengthen over the weekend, possibly reaching cat 2 intensity by Monday. The worst of the storm should move East of the Bahamas. Lets hope it remains over open waters throughout its lifetime.

5 Day Rain Forecast: 🔴Isolated showers for the Big Game Saturday. 🔴A few more showers on Sunday 🔴The rain picks up for the start of Fall and stays thru Tuesday. 🔴Back to a few showers for the middle of next week.

8 pm Friday Tropical Outlook: The tropical wave by Cape Verde has some organized showers & t-storms. Its chances for development remain at 20% over 7 days, once it reaches yellow area.

Tropical Storm #Gabrielle promises to intensify into a Hurricane and possibly reach category 2 status by Monday. Fortunately, it appears the worst of the system will be east of Bermuda. Hopefully, there will be NO deviations from this track & Gabrielle stays over open waters.

Fall starts Monday, Sep 22nd at 2:19 pm. Seasonal outlooks suggest a wetter fall for South Florida, along w much warmer temps.

Just enough lingering moisture for a few fast moving showers across parts of Miami-Dade County. Palm Springs, Doral, and a bit of MIA Int'l will see the activity for a few more minutes.

5 pm Friday Gabrielle Advisory & Cone: It's trying to get a bit stronger as it frees itself from some nagging shear. NHC forecasts it to become a cat 1 and even as strong as a 2 as it nears Bermuda.

After this less rainy weekend, a front will once again stall over South Florida and tap into Deep Tropical Moisture. This rain is forecast to get dragged into our area and bring with it a better rain chance for the start of next week.

Rain chances over the next 7 days average 50%. Below that thru the weekend, but tropical moisture is forecast to return just in time for the start of Fall.

Outside of some scattered showers, Mother Nature should cooperate for Saturday's Game. GO CANES!

The water vapor imagery suggests drier air arriving in So FL, while the plume of moisture that impacted our area last week is now over the Central Bahamas.

The stalled front / disturbance over South Florida that brought us all the rain last week... has moved East. It's sitting over the Bahamas. This will allow milder conditions with lower rain chances over the next 48 hours into our area.

Gabrielle Thursday 11 pm Advisory & Cone: Very heavy rain on the NE quadrant, with more showers developing along its center. NHC says it will get stronger in the days ahead, possibly reaching cat 1 before near Bermuda.

A big downpour over Miami-Dade County has now slid into SE Broward. It has some heavy rain & gusty winds. It's moving ever so slowly offshore. May take another 40 minutes before it clears out.

Wet start to a rainy end on this Thursday. Morning rain gave way to a quiet afternoon, but the downpours returned by evening. Here are the 24 hour rain totals.

The Train of Rain along the Beaches extends into Deep Southern Miami-Dade County. May be until 10 pm before the rain moves offshore.

Moderate to heavy rain persists between Downtown Miami, Key Biscayne, Cutler Bay & south to Homestead. This line of storms is barely moving East.

Rain has redeveloped across Coastal Miami-Dade County. Its moving offshore. With saturated ground from recent rain, this storm could cause some standing water on roadways.

8 pm Thursday Tropical Outlook: Aside from Tropical Storm Gabrielle, NHC is monitoring a wave along the African Coast. It's producing some disorganized showers and remains with a 20% chance for development once it reaches the yellow area.

Thursday afternoon Tropical update: Earlier NHC was monitoring a wave near Cape Verde for development... it fell apart. That leaves only one other by the African Coast with a low chance for organization.

The deluge over the last few weeks has brought a huge relief to our drought status. 1 month ago most of So FL was under several levels of dryness, but after the downpours, only Metropolitan Broward remains on the dry side.

Soggy September so far. If there would be no more rain this month... Miami is ranked as the third wettest, while Ft. Lauderdale comes in as the 8th wettest.

Average 7 day rain chances stand at 50%. So FL will remain below that in the short term but bounce back up by the start of Fall. Those high probabilities extend thru Tuesday.

Big game this Saturday & Mother Nature is cooperating. The game can be seen on ABC Miami.

Rain totals for Thursday. Most of the heavy rain came down in the morning hours. Some areas across Brickell had standing water on roadways. The highest accumulation was in Summerland Key. Conditions are improving. The entire forecast on WSVN 7 & ABC Miami

11 pm Wednesday Tropical Advisory & Cone: The system is poorly organized impacted by Shear (Strong Upper Winds). Winds near the center remain at 50 mph. It will look for a gap between 2 highs. Models suggest it may intensify to a cat 1 by the weekend. Bermuda needs to monitor.

Typical rain chances now stand at 50% for this part of the Rainy Season. Probabilities for Saturday's big game stand at 40% for tailgating and down to 30% at Kickoff!

King Tide Flooding will still be an issue for the Upper Keys thru 6am Thursday morning. Low lying areas at greater risk.

A large pool of moisture to our South will get drawn northward by an old frontal boundary. This may lead to pockets of heavy rain which could lead to street flooding. Stay with WSVN 7 & ABC Miami for the latest on-air & on-line.

Here are the 24 hour rain totals for Wednesday. Not a lot of accumulations but those that got the downpours, received over 1". A Street Flood Advisory was issued in the afternoon for areas around the Hammocks. That was canceled at 5:45 pm.

Over the next 7 days, typical rain chances now hover around 50%. Plenty of moisture across So FL, means probabilities will be up to 80% on Thursday. Still high for Friday, then slowly improving into the weekend.

NHC is watching another wave over Africa inside the boxed area. As it travels into the yellow highlight, it will get a 20% chance for organization once there.
