These images were used to give the impression that the average Gazan is on the brink of death due to an Israeli-made famine. That is not true. There is widespread suffering in Gaza. The fact that these kids are stuck in a war zone without proper medical care is tragic enough. No need to lie.

I recently looked up the Arabic translation of some of the names of the emaciated children used in coverage of the alleged famine in Gaza. It turns out that many of them were sick before the war and have long, complicated medical histories. Our reporting shows they do not represent the average.

NPR still hasn't corrected their sloppy journalism. Don't forget this when your station's next pledge drive rolls around. They will ask you for money. Don't give them a cent.
