I say this because if you're floating around bsky and reading this you gotta take context into consideration. Marie is a comic artist! And the industry kinda pays dogshit. But you shouldn't just read this and expect to pay $500 for a cover illustration for your book cuz it's current rates

This is COMIC BOOK covers. If you're hiring an artist to do a words book cover, you can expect to pay anywhere from $100 (premade) to $3,000 because that art is FAR less sell-able after the fact and often is requested with significantly more polish
