Massive thanks to @raybradshaw1.bsky.social, who has raised £1500 for us through his shows this month at the Edinburgh Fringe. This has allowed us to get £1600 of emergency work completed on our van which would otherwise have been off the road. A massive Thank You to Ray and his audiences!

We've had a couple of folks asking about setting up a direct debit to make regular donations. This is a huge support if it is something that you are able to and want to do. If you DM us or email [email protected] we'll get you the details for setting up a regular payment to our bank.

Demand just doesn't drop and we continue to go through hundreds and hundreds of pack items every single week, there is no let up as we help people settle into their new homes and move on from homelessness and other difficult situations that have been experienced. 2/2

We're running out of glasses currently. If you have spare in the house, we can put them to amazing re-use in ouir starter packs. They can be dropped at our @magpiesnestgovan.bsky.social shop in our donation sorting room. Friends in hospitality, we can collect your old/excess stock if you have any.

People often ask us if we are able to claim Gift Aid on financial donations. We absolutely can, if you get in touch we can send you the relevant Gift Aid form, which can be for one off donations, or multiple ongoing donations (no harm in being prepared in case you make more in the future).

Thanks to the volunteers from Morgan Stanley who spent yesterday in our donation sorting room in our @magpiesnestgovan.bsky.social shop. Thanks to everyone for continuing to donate household items for us to use in our starter packs. It costs so much to run our service these days & the biggest way we can make savings is by re-using donated household items our starter packs, which totally ties in with our environmental aims of re-use!

This is how many packs we were able to deliver in April. Its normally a quieter month, with the Easter Holidays usually meaning we have less referrals coming in, but this year we delivered 54 packs in 4 days, which i'm fairly sure is a record. Thank you for the support, very much appreciated.

This is a ready reckoner as to what your donations can actually buy for us to put in our starter packs of household essential items. Even a small donation goes a long way in supporting folks across our city starting over in their new homes. We couldn't do it without your support, so thank you!

We always really appreciate the feedback we get from our pack recipients on the starter packs that we deliver to them when they are staring over in their new homes. Its nice to be able to share that feedback with you. These are some of the messages we've received so far this month.

It's a double window for a double duvet on days 11 and 12. We give out the size of bedding that everyone in the household needs & double quilts are the size we need most. We easily go through 40 a week. If you can afford to pick us up one whilst out at the supermarket, that would be much appreciated

In the past couple of days, we've had a plethora of parcels arriving from Sarah, Pauline and Anne (the pots didn't have a name attached so apologies if they were from someone else). Day 9 on the reserve advent calendar is the humble mug. Whether it's new or used, we can put them in our packs and we go through around 200 mugs a week. If you can drop any down is, that would be hugely appreciated.

Reverse advent calendar double windows this weekend for days 7 & 8 we have the double duvet cover... double covers are by far the most requested bedding size & we go through over 30 every week. If you can pick one up for us whilst shopping, that would be much appreciated

Day 5's window hides...... washing up liquid. We out this in every pack, and would be most grateful for any extra bottles you can pick up whilst out getting the messages.

Who forget to open their reverse advent calendar window yesterday? It was a single duvet cover for day 4. We are going through more than ever as we deliver more family packs. If you're getting shopping in and can afford to pop one in the trolley for us, that would be hugely appreciated

It is International Volunteers Day today, so we'd like to take a moment to thank all our wonderful volunteers who give so much time to help us do what we do and make Starter Packs Glasgow such a special organisation.

It's day three of the Starter Packs Glasgow reverse advent calendar. What's behind the window? It's anti-bacterial cleaner! Every pack has cleaning products in it, and spray is a hugely helpful donation if you're out getting the messages and can afford to pop an extra one for us to use in our packs

Our reverse advent calendar reaches day 2 & it's a classic cutlery set. We get 16 piece sets (or multiple sets of four individual cutlery items) for around £3-4 in the supermarkets. If you're out shopping & can afford to drop some cutlery into your basket, we'd be mightily appreciative. Thanks folks

As we enter December, we dust off the old Starter Packs Glasgow reverse advent calendar. Each day we put up a pack item that is extremely helpful to have donated. We start the month with the humble tin opener, which goes into every pack. These are 65p in Asda, and we go through 35-50 every week.
