On 17/11/1981 John Peel played Hotel by The Trudy. Our drummer recently found out, via a #Cardiacs page, that the Cardiac Arrest EP he played on in 1979 was played twice on the John Peel show. He was so excited to discover this, just 46 years after it happened, that he barely slept for a week.

As well as being in The Trudy, Melissa Jo Heathcote has joined the excellent 'Terry Bickers and the Inner Spiral'. Their great new single 'Keepers' is out now and they're playing The Butler in Reading tonight (Saturday 31st) and The Lexington in London tomorrow (Sunday 1st).

Melissa sung her heart out, but this version of 'From Venus With Love', which was a reworking for a potential single release in 1991, was put into a cupboard and forgotten about. It finally saw the light of day in 2009 on the #VinylJapan compilation album 'The Adventures! The Suspense!!'

In the 80s people seemed quite happy to believe we came from the planet Miron, but when we printed this genuine photo of Melissa at The Kennedy Space Centre, taken from Spaceflight News, they wouldn't have it.

When is an EP not an EP? When it’s ‘Outside Time’, The Trudy's, 21-minute long, mini album, from 2023. We’ve called it a mini album because it’s a sequenced to be listened to like one side of an LP. It takes you on a musical journey. Well, we think it does anyway. You can hear it on Bandcamp now!

In the 80s, DIY cassette singles were a great way for unsigned bands to release their music. Before we could afford to press 7" records, we duplicated cassette singles at home and then got the train to the Xerox shop with a colour copier, which was near Waterloo Station, to copy the inserts.

24th January 1990. While Cyndi Lauper was heading west The Trudy stayed where they were last week; at No.4 on the W963 Campus Countdown. [Sounds like something Peter Powell would've said if he hadn’t retired 2 year earlier – Ed.]

On 17th January 1990 Destination Love’ by #TheTrudy was held off the No.1 spot by Madonna.

A follow-up to yesterday's post. On this day in 1981, the very talented and much missed Colvin Mayers guested with #TheTrudy, at Snoopies in Richmond on a song he'd written called 'I Want To Be On Television'. Colvin was still in #Cardiacs and had just been asked to join #TheSound.

If it was Sunday 7th June 1987 you'd have to wait until tomorrow to see The Trudy + Until We Sleep at the Fulham Greyhound. Apparently hot and cold food was always available. Does anyone remember that?
