Greenland plays a key role in safeguarding Arctic security. NL encourages dialogue and cooperation between NATO allies to further strengthen our security there. Concerning the future of Greenland it is up to Denmark & Greenland to decide. The NL fully supports our Danish friends.

Good to talk with Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Spoke about Venezuela and the impact of developments on the region, including on the Caribbean parts of our Kingdom. Stability and security in the region is our number one priority. We value our strong Transatlantic relations. 1/2

Touched base with my colleague Andrii Sybiha. In Ukraine, temperatures are plunging well below freezing. At the same time, Russia continues attacks on civilian and energy infrastructure. This shows maintaining pressure on Russia is essential, also during the ongoing talks.

Today, further steps were taken in Miami in the peace talks on Ukraine. We appreciate the efforts of the United States. The Netherlands continues to support Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression and for a lasting peace. We must continue to increase the pressure on Russia to end its war.

Vandaag zijn er in Miami weer stappen gezet in de vredesgesprekken over Oekraïne. Wij waarderen de inzet van de Verenigde Staten. NL blijft Oekraïne steunen in hun strijd tegen Russische agressie en voor een duurzame vrede. We moeten de druk op Rusland blijven opvoeren zodat zij hun oorlog stoppen.

Russia claims to want peace, but bombarded Ukraine during Christmas and again last night with drones and ballistic missiles. These are not signs of peace. If Russia wants to engage in serious diplomacy, it must stop attacking Ukraine.

Security depends on cooperation. India’s Minister of Defence Rajnath Singh and I signed a Letter of Intent, setting out our joint efforts aimed at deepening our partnership on defence and maritime security. This includes efforts to protect open and secure sea lanes in the Indo-Pacific.

A welcome step that the EU has adopted new sanctions against the Russian shadow fleet. Russia is using the shadow fleet to circumvent oil sanctions and steal Ukrainian grain. The Netherlands has urged for these measures. 1/2

I stand firmly with our German friends in condemning this Russian cyber attack on air traffic control and attempted interference in elections. The Netherlands fully supports concrete actions that Germany has taken against Russia in response to these malign activities.

Good exchange with FM HH Prince Faisal bin Farhan al Saud, after my successful visit to #KSA. We spoke about necessary steps to move the Gaza peace plan to phase two. We also discussed the urgency of a ceasefire and humanitarian access for Sudan, as well as Ukraine and recent EU/NL efforts.

The Netherlands has provided substantial support to Ukraine since the start of the large-scale Russian invasion. The government is now making an additional €700 million available at an accelerated pace, allowing military deliveries to continue in early 2026.
