I have always enjoyed the process of painting, drawing and sculpting, both digital and traditional media. Here is a value/ink painting that combines my love of old horror movie posters and typography and old universal character actors. This one of course is horror legend Boris Karloff. 🙂

In 2017 i was working at Dneg London animating some Kaiju shots on Pacific Rim2. I loved the work, its not often we get to animate big monsters. However i did have a daily commute that lasted 2 and a half hours both ways so decided to do my best to use that time constructively do some sketching.

Decided to do an ink painting study just for the sake of drawing and because i like the process. Trying to combine some of my favourite things. Birds, gothic horror and montage poster art. Sergio Toppi has always been a big inspiration.

Finally managed to integrate this creature i sculpted over a decade ago into an environment. Zbrush, Keyshot, photoshop comp and phototexture with a lot of paintover.🙂
