Another day in Halifax. Another protest

Sloppy politics. How can you support a budget without first knowing how the cuts will impact your constituents? These cuts are going to disrupt deeply for the ones who need the services the most. I have lived in Queens. There are lots of vulnerable people living there.

Watching Shrinking and seeing Harrison Ford walk into a room humming the Indiana Jones theme made me smile. A little thing to lighten my mood.

This list makes me ill. Women, children, seniors, healthy communities, learning, arts, poverty, mental health and culture are the targets of this budget. What a cluster fuck.

Thought I was on the mend yesterday but nope...fully back in this cold's nasty grip. I didn't know someone could produce so much mucus, phlegm and snot. Thankful no fever or other symptoms.

No busses on Sunday/Holidays and no service after 10pm. What the actual fuck? My family rely on transit during these times to get to and from work and other activities. Do you (City Council) realize the impact it will have on businesses in the city? Families? Events? Tourism? Students? Insane 😡

I am heartbroken from the tragic news coming out of BC and the community of Tumbler Ridge. There are no words to say that will offer comfort. NS understands that pain. It's sad another small community has to live through that shock, loss and grief.

As I get older, the more I dislike winter but the scene outside my back window is pretty this morning. I appreciate that.

The band geek in me is excited to go back to rehearsals this morning. I bought a new mouthpiece and fancy ligature over the holidays for my clarinet and can't wait to use them. 🎼🎵🎵🎵

Taking down our real Christmas tree today which is always sad. But I am going to keep my pencil tree in the front entrance up. I am going to redecorate it as a winter tree then a valentine tree. I am also leaving more fairy lights around. A little brightness in a dark winter.

I decided to cut my hours at work. I usually work Fridays and it feels odd not going in but working less seems important. I am getting older and I am feeling the toll 8 hrs on my feet brings. My parents are aging and I want more to be with them. I realize that I am fortunate to be able to do so.

I am a 12 Days of Christmas kind of gal. I am in no rush to pack it up this year. Next week.

Today was my last pre-Christmas retail shift. The store was crazy (and some of you all need to learn manners and patience). I have 5 days off in a row to concentrate on my family and enjoy Christmas. Whoop! Whoop!

I had a great massage today. Quiet, warm and relaxing. Just what I needed.

My dad's chemo drops did not work on his eye cancer. Waiting to see what's next. My mom's macular degeneration is in an advance stage and she will likely be legally blind within the next 6 months. They both have heart issues. I am watching their independence slip away. This is a hard stage of life.

Just scrolled through memories on FB. I had such an interesting life pre-COVID and whatever the timeline we are living in now. It's going to take a generation to shake all the drama and trauma of the last 5 years isn't it?
