Sci-Fi and Horror share this particular quality, though their purposes are different, in my mind. Horror helps us deal with the fears of the unknown and what comes for us after we die. Sci-Fi faces what we fear the consequences of our choices may be for everyone we leave behind once we're gone.

Science fiction helps me wrap my heart & head around big ideas and tough truths. Arrival reminded me that existing at all is a rare privilege. Here and Now and Then embodied the joy and pain of being a dad. What sci-fi stories have helped you contemplate the hard realities of our current world?

Yes, it's talking about the last century. And yet, look how far down the sci-fi rabbit hole we continue to go. We live a sci-fi reality, fight sci-fi problems, and are subservient to oppressive systems the darkest of science fiction has repeatedly warned us about. #scifisavestheworld if we listen.
