Our parental leave policies are top-notch. But only 15.6% of parental leave is used by men. We have this societal and political history of equality and Finland is the poster child of women’s rights, so do we still need to even talk about feminism and gender equality? Yes!

Women’s education level in Finland is high; in 2020 there were 16.1% more women with a higher education degree than men.

We got our first female president in 2000, and our first female prime minister in 2003.  We got worldwide recognition for our women-run parliament during Covid with 47% of members being women, led by prime minister Sanna Marin.

Welcome to Finland, where women got the right to vote in 1909. A year later, 19 women elected to the Finnish parliament were the first female parliamentarians in the world.

Finland is a pioneer in women’s rights but feminism is the worst F-word.

The United Nations Secretary-General launched in 2008 the campaign, UNiTE by 2030 to End Violence against Women. The signature colour of the campaign is orange. As a bright and optimistic colour, orange represents a future free from violence against women and girls.

Our platform amplifies voices. In our events we have a video studio for anyone to record a video. We have an Open Mic town hall, where anyone can speak. We prefer panel discussions to bring more people on the stage. And every event we try to learn to do better.

We work together with many other organizations to amplify women’s and nonbinary people’s (and allies) voices. In 2024 we’ve given over 60 an opportunity to speak in events.

We are still small. But would like to grow. Women in Finland are fierce, and don’t always even realize how much ahead in feminism they are. At the same time, we need to be more connected to the rest of the world. Want to become friends?

Finnish Stock Exchange Building was built in 1912. Ever since, it has been an exclusive location for business, hosted historic figures and the home of Bourse Club. They didn’t allow women in until in 2019. It was a great location for feminist business event. We doubled in size.

Our first conference was in 2023 and 100 joined us. Many immigrant women found us, and many felt they were finally incorporated into business event in Finland. We tackled topics like violence against women, modern leadership, why feminism is needed, future building, founder success stories.

First we did a talk show in 2022. Only a few episodes, to show what kind of topics our event could do and what we want to pay attention to.

I met Anna Koskinen, the founder of Female Founders Finland when I was writing Big Rich Money with Candice Brathwaite. Big Rich Money: How To Turn Your Business Intentions Into A Profitable Company was written for female entrepreneurs and we share consulting secrets from 15+ years.

Some might remember me from Skimbaco Lifestyle - I was very active on Twitter already in 2008 and my blog was fairly popular. I always gave back and tried sharing best tips from SEO to monetizing to working with brands. Some might remember me also from Collective Bias.
