Tomorrow I'm giving a small talk about how to get hired as a software eng in 2025. I built my self a slide presentation webapp, and I can get Claude Code to automatically generate images for the slides for me using the OpenAI API. This is so much better than Keynote.

I've been thinking a lot about the future of software developer jobs. I wonder what's going to happen. On one hand there's going to be a lot of pressure to produce more. But on the other hand, AI gives developers a lot of power and freedom to build whatever they want.

I predict a generational divide: As we see more and more AI avatars that look like a real person, older people will find that offensive, while younger people will find that perfectly acceptable. For some reason I think AI generated voice is fine but a fake AI person is gross

I accidentally stayed up all night hacking a side project that uses the new open ai image model. I've been wanting something that helps me explore art styles.

I've been making myself a UI to generate images with the new gpt-image-1 model. This feels way faster than using it through the ChatGPT app. This model requires personal verification. I had to take a picture of my drivers license and scan my face in order to use it 😳😳😳

I don't know if I know anyone at Facebook, but after logging into my account I get a 500 GQL error on a `/checkpoint` page. Because I can't get past this page, I don't even have access to support, so how does one even get this fixed?

It's crazy how quickly you can get things done with Cursor. This took me like half an hour of voice dictating into cursor to build. I did a lot of iterations on the design

I haven't done a single MCP thing yet. And that's probably because I just tell the LLM agents to run CLI tools. You can get an LLM to do anything if it can run commands on the CLI

Last year at conferences I mentioned that AI is going to make software development move to the web, which actually has a lot of advantages for standardizing development environments across large teams. No one believed me. Anyway this is what future development is going to be like firebase.studio

I think once Open AI adds the ability to create a database, that's going to open up a huge new type of consumer-made apps.

Interesting thing with ChatGPT. You can ask it to search and make you a weather report, and then make it pretty. This to me feels like an n-1 step to an app. I think very soon we'll have dynamic apps like this in less than a year, making a huge change in mobile development
