My circuits class has a very strange way of grading exams where the raw score you see at first is very low and then it changes after it’s graded by hand. Not sure what the exact deal is. Maybe some answers aren’t graded until they’re hand checked but canvas counts them as 0 temporarily?

I went to my first office hours ever with a professor and we talked briefly about what I could concentrate in if I want to get a job in utah. its basically power and defense, I guess L3 Harris is big out here. I looked the company up and its like krupp or ig farben level evil.

one strange thing about working through this calc book on my own is that some sections have 160 problems. doing half of them you would still do like 400 problems each chapter, but when I look at actual homework problem sets from like MIT, they only have people doing at most 20 problems per set.

This problem struck me as noir. Like, how long a shadow does the mysterious man cast as he’s hustling away from the scene of the crime under a streetlight, on the wrong side of town.

my grandma gave me a bunch of books, a lot of nicely bound 'great books' that would be sold door to door in the 60s to up and coming accountants like my grandfather. she says she can't read anymore. I'm not sure what my response to that will be when the time comes. get really into audiobooks?

I’m part of a framing carpenters group on FB and this was a comment on a thread asking about the best cordless tool brand. I guess when you view it this way it truly does not matter if you go dewalt or Milwaukee.

Replacement handle for a pan. From a scrap of white oak off a pallet. It’s much chunkier than what it replaced, with a flat bottom profile for more precise control of ground beef for nachos.

Stand for the table saw. It’s the same height as the one you can just buy from dewalt, but this is heavier.

So the problem is finding the point of the blue function (x^2 + 1) where the normal line passes through the point (3,1). After 2 hours the solution I keep getting is the green line and the books answer is the purple line. I’m not losing my mind right. The book is wrong?

I created some folding sawhorses out of the most fucked up pieces of the yellow pine I gathered from the job. They don’t sit straight because all of the wood is warped slightly but that’s not my fault I tried as hard as I could.

The restaurant I worked on for two years will open in a couple weeks. I was looking through the website they have and it said “our south dining space features a retractable roof” and I was like, you’re goddamn right it does.

Going back through calc is making me realize maybe my algebra isn’t very advanced. Like I don’t know a lot of tricks that the book is assuming. Not good.

utah unemployment really uses an AI chatbot to ask you why you're not working. I had to tell it that construction is not seasonal work. first time hearing about this industry apparently.

We looked at a house to rent today and there was a part of it that dates to the 1850s and lady who was showing it said it had thick adobe walls and angled window cavities so that you could get better angles with rifles presumably to shoot Indians. Ok.
