This heron flew in while I was on my walk 😏

I don't usually walk home through the marsh when it's dark out, but I decided to take my chances and success did see a heron and did not see any snakes 👍

Btw today I watched a heron catch a fish(?) and it was a great time, except I assume for the fish

I think I maybe saw this heron catch something and eat it, which might explain why it spent over 5 minutes afterwards with its beak slightly agape

After a terrible stretch of time where I couldn't make it to the marsh: I'm back. And used my new monocular and 3x zoom to spy on this beautiful beast.

I love that when my friends go on vacation they send me photos of herons they see on their trips. I'm truly living the dream. Herons worldwide baby.

The lush and beautiful blooming foliage of Spring is great except for how it makes it harder to spot birds.

This used to be a geese/gosling hang out spot but it seems this heron has taken it over 👍

Anyway sorry about the lack of heron photos lately. They've mostly been flying or far away so I haven't been taking them as much. However, I finally got a gizmo to connect my phone to my binoculars stably, so I'll go take more again soon!!

I've set sufficient precedent that people will send their heron pics to the family groupchat. Which means I just got to see a picture of a yellow crowned night heron. YAY!

Three heron day!!

Got my first legitimately good photos of a heron in flight today but I'm still impossible to please bc I'm dreaming of the photos I could've gotten if my finger had been lined up right to take photos of it taking off right in front of me 1 minute before

After days of being too busy to make it to the marsh, I finally returned and saw THREE herons!! Shout out to the dog walker who pointed the last one out to me, I'd have missed it otherwise.

Only 1 heron today but it was pretty close to the path. AND the cherry trees are looking good 🌸👍

Today's two herons were (1) flying away or (2) sleepy, BUT I also saw some Buffleheads!

Fourth time trying to upload today's heron photos which I'm only enduring through bc that's one try for each heron, and one for the bonus beaver I saw

Had to be patient and wait for this pal to stop grooming long enough to get a semi-decent picture, but I love its posture

Was alerted to the existence of this heron by someone w a fancy looking camera + telescoping lens taking photos of it as it flew in. This picture is probably equally good though, psh. (They took the path to get closer to the heron while I continued my walk home. So maybe not equally good.)

Yesterday there was a heron close enough to the path that I could actually get a clear photo of it, leading my mom to suggest it was "too good to put on Bluesky" But I would never want to deny you all the ability to zoom in and see its head plume feathers.

Pointing my phone camera through my binoculars did not achieve the world's easiest or most successful zoom. But, heron. With bonus turtles.

Was worried I wouldn't see a heron, despite walking home along the optimal route for heron spottings, bc it was already so dark. But what joy! I spotted a heron, even as it tried to slowly and sneakily walk away.

Good news, saw a heron on my walk home for the first time in a while!!

Time to share this quick air filter solution for wildfire smoke once again. All you need is a box fan and a home air/furnace filter that you can get at pretty much any hardware store. Optional is some duct tape to get a good seal. Stay safe! #LAFires

In case you were wondering if the Yucatán Peninsula has herons (and cranes and egrets and also other birds I guess) on it?? I'm here to tell you that it does, and that I took some photos of them just for you.

Went to the park that multiple people have informed me is full of herons, but only saw the one, which flew away when I got close. So I can once more fulfill my promise of only the most amateur of heron photographs.

Friend just sent me a zoomed in bird photo to ask what it was. It was a heron. Probably. Hashtag brand maintained.
