In 2018, the PLS was critical in determining that I had left the heliosphere – but power management is a major challenge when you've been exploring for 47 years. I will, however, still be monitoring plasma in the interstellar medium with my plasma wave subsystem (PWS). -V2

Over the last 47 years, the fuel lines on my thrusters have become clogged with buildup. If they were to get completely blocked, it would affect my ability to point at Earth so I can communicate with my team. Fortunately, they found a solution: http://go.nasa.gov/3z4EK70 -V1

Today is a kind of special day. 💛 46 years ago, I launched from Cape Canaveral and began my mission, which was originally just 4 years and only included flybys of Jupiter and Saturn. My, oh my, what we've accomplished since then. -V2

Just another Tuesday to you, but it's another day collecting data on the interstellar medium for my twin and I. I've been observing a unique pressure front from the Sun that crossed into interstellar space. We've nicknamed it Pf2. So, how's your Tuesday going? - V1

#OTD in 1979, I made my closest approach of Jupiter at a range of about 400,785 miles (645,000 km) and sent back new data on the planet’s clouds, ring system, and its four largest moons - including these shots of Europa. Check out the fractures on that icy moon! -V2

Is it cold in interstellar space? Yes. It's a few degrees above absolute zero out here, but our Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generators (RTGs) provide both power AND heat. That, plus some blankets and heaters, and our insides parts are just above freezing. -V2

Still here. 👋 And still more than 15 billion miles (24 billion km) away from Earth. It takes my team about 22.5 hours to send me a command and another 22.5 hours for my response to get back to them. That will continue to increase the further I travel into interstellar space. -V1

Right place, right time. In the '70s and '80s, our mission took advantage of a rare geometric arrangement of planets, which only occurs about every 175 years and allowed for a four-planet tour. These planets include Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and ______. Can you guess the fourth?

How are we just now learning that Ed Stone, our longtime project scientist, has an asteroid named after him? Asteroid 5841 or "Stone," to be exact. Now, how do we get one? 😉 -V2

An update on my twin #Voyager1: The team recently sent a "poke" to prompt V1's flight data system (FDS) and received a signal that differed from past attempts. A DSN engineer helped decode this signal, which may contain clues to the source of the issue: https://go.nasa.gov/3RihsPR

In 1979, my twin Voyager 1 discovered active volcanoes on Jupiter's moon Io. Check out this awesome view of two simultaneously occurring eruptions. Ash clouds are rising more than 260 km above the surface in the eruption on the lower right. The other is at the shadow line. -V2

The year was 1979, and my twin was about to make its closest approach to Jupiter. V1 took almost 19,000 pictures – and I arrived a few months later for my own close encounter. Can't wait to see the new images @EuropaClipper takes when it gets to the Jupiter system in 2030. - V2
