In the June 2025 Whaley Bridge Town Council meeting, Ruth George was appointed, via co-option, to the post of Town Councillor in the ward of Fernilee; a post vacated by Cllr Linden Smith, whom the Council thanks for her dedicated service up until this date.

TREE LIGHTS SWITCH-ON Saturday 30 November. 5:30pm. This year the ceremony has relocated to its new home at the canal basin, where carols and the Nativity story will follow the lantern parade, which has also changed to a new route along Shallcross Incline. #WhaleyBridge #HighPeakChristmas
