Today, I held a press conference on our Health Education and Advocacy Unit’s FY 2025 Annual Report.  During that time, HEAU closed more than 2,000 complaints and helped Marylanders save or recover nearly $2.6 million by resolving health insurance and medical billing disputes.

Today, I co-led a coalition of attorneys general opposing proposed rollbacks that would weaken protections under the Endangered Species Act. These changes would put endangered wildlife and critical habitats at greater risk.

Today, I joined a coalition of attorneys general opposing the Trump administration’s proposal to roll back reporting requirements for PFAS—often called “forever chemicals.” These rules help make sure companies disclose how these toxic chemicals are used and released.

Today, I joined other attorneys general in suing to stop the unlawful defunding of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). The CFPB protects consumers from fraud and abuse and has returned billions of dollars to people nationwide.

A federal judge ordered the U.S. Department of Education to reverse its unlawful decision to cancel school mental health grants. These grants fund counselors, psychologists, and other mental health professionals in K-12 schools—support students’ safety and well-being.

Today, I spoke out against proposed Trump administration rules that would further restrict access to medically necessary gender-affirming care. These proposals would block federal health coverage, penalize providers, and weaken disability protections—putting politics over patients.

Today I announced the sentencing of a former caregiver who was convicted of abusing a vulnerable adult in her care. No one who depends on a caretaker should ever face harm. Our office will continue to protect vulnerable Marylanders and hold abusers accountable.

I’m opposing a new U.S. Department of Education proposal that would force colleges to collect and report sensitive student data linking race to admissions, financial aid, and academic performance.

Today I announced a multistate settlement addressing Hyundai and Kia’s sale of cars that lacked basic anti-theft technology, leading to a nationwide surge in thefts. This agreement will help prevent future thefts and provides free fixes and restitution for Marylanders who were harmed.

Today I announced the conviction of the final defendant involved in a violent 2022 rideshare carjacking spree across Baltimore City and Baltimore County. Six individuals were responsible for more than 40 armed carjackings, kidnappings, robberies, and a sexual assault.

I announced guilty pleas from Skyline Tower Painting and its President for illegal work that scattered lead paint into Baltimore neighborhoods. Their actions spread toxic lead chips across homes, playgrounds, and even a daycare. When sentencing occurs, they face fines and potential incarceration.

Today I filed charges against Intrepid Paralegal Solutions and its CEO for allegedly deceiving Marylanders seeking legal help. The lawsuit alleges that they performed unauthorized legal work, misled consumers about working with attorneys, and used deceptive billing practices.

Victory: We won a lawsuit blocking the Trump Administration’s unlawful freeze on wind energy permits. The halt threatened Maryland jobs, clean energy investments, and our progress fighting climate change. This decision keeps critical wind projects moving forward for a cleaner, safer future.

Last week, a Baltimore County jury found a former insurance agent guilty of misappropriating $36,500 from a client and then trying to cover it up by writing a fake letter and pasting the client’s signature onto it to make it look like he approved the payment.

Today I launched Phase 2 of Operation Robocall Roundup, expanding our crackdown on illegal robocalls to four major phone service providers: Inteliquent, Bandwidth, Lumen, and Peerless. These companies continue to let massive volumes of scam calls reach Marylanders. Full Release: bit.ly/48gU92L

My Office came together this holiday season to support families served by House of Ruth Maryland. Thanks to our staff’s generosity, we collected hundreds of non-perishable items and more than $1,000 in donations. I’m grateful to our Black Employee Network for leading this effort.

My Office secured a final order stopping DMV Futures and its leaders from asking Marylanders for donations after we found they used kids to go door to door, misrepresented the programs they claimed to offer, and misused the money people gave.

My Office is suing the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for a new policy that could force thousands of Marylanders out of stable housing. HUD is slashing funding for permanent housing and adding unlawful conditions that punish providers and put vulnerable residents at risk.

I joined a bipartisan coalition of 36 attorneys general urging Congress not to ban state AI protections. States shield their residents against AI scams, misinformation, privacy violations, and tools that can harm children. We’re calling on Congress to strengthen protections, not strip them away.

I’m opposing the administration’s plan to weaken limits on hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), some of the most powerful greenhouse gases driving climate change. These chemicals are used in air conditioning and refrigeration, and rolling back existing rules would slow the nationwide effort to cut emissions.

I joined a bipartisan coalition calling on Shopify to stop illegal e-cigarette sales happening on its platform. Too many online sellers are using Shopify’s services to market unlawful and unregulated e-cigarettes, which put young people at serious risk.

Every survivor of sexual assault or domestic violence deserves help, no matter their immigration status. Today, we secured an agreement stopping the federal government from enforcing unlawful restrictions on certain legal service funded through the (VOCA) and the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).

I was truly honored to be recognized at the Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland (PBRC) Gala and inspired by the advocates who continue pushing to expand access to justice across our state.

Today, on Transgender Day of Remembrance, we honor those whose lives were taken by anti-transgender violence. We stand with the trans community and recommit to building a Maryland where everyone is safe, valued, and respected.
