Labour is lifting half a million children out of poverty across the UK, including 95,000 in Scotland. Meanwhile, Nigel Farage is happy to keep kids in poverty to take 5p off of a pint. Child poverty is a scourge on our society and this Labour government is confronting it.

Tonight along with my Labour colleagues we voted to scrap the two child limit - a decision that will lift 95,000 Scottish children out of poverty. The Tories and Reform voted against that. Labour is tackling child poverty and giving every child the best possible start in life.

Real frustration at declining educational standards and having to wait years for NHS treatment in today’s Cambuslang session. After two decades of SNP failure, there’s an appetite for change - many here know that Scottish Labour is best placed to beat them and deliver that.

This week: 📈Higher growth than expected. 📉Lower NHS waiting lists in England. 🛜Confronted AI Grok deepfakes. 🚝Northern Powerhouse Rail announced. 💨Record offshore wind auction will lower bills and create jobs in Scotland and across UK. This Labour government is delivering.

Unsurprisingly, after inviting Scots to judge them on it, the SNP is not prioritising education. With a stubborn attainment gap, lack of ASN support, behaviour crisis in our schools and broken promises on teacher recruitment, the SNP is failing Scotland’s next generation.

What you didn’t hear today is that the SNP appear to be planning deep cuts to education over the next three years if they are re-elected in May. Remember they were going to close the attainment gap, complete a schools recovery from COVID and give kids free bikes and iPads…
