Wee dog has so much more life in him since we got the toys to hide treats in. He's learned "Find" and gets so excited when he sees the red ball he trips himself up. He's eating less without complaint too. Plus I get 20 minutes to clean while he eats his dinner.

My novel's genre is psychological lakorn. It wouldn't exist if Thailand hadn't taught me different ways to tell a story. Western genres ARE limiting once you step outside that framework.

So it turns out incorporating the start of something else into a very early scene does not work at all with the slow pace of early chapters (each minimum month apart) which needs to be reinforced, not compromised. Blech 😩 1st ch feels 'done' too but month later too long.

Had thought a section would be essentially comedy & hopefully entertainly clever. There is humour but not where I expected, mostly in a long spontaneous intro. Over all it turned into something rather different, with more layers of characterisation for the FMC. Am both disappointed & good with it.

helped with a puppy 30 years ago - let her out mid-day, gave her some food & attention. was really tired one day and she brought me her favourite toy then settled in with another next to me. chocolate lab & runt of the litter, full of beans.
