You ever do one of those weird Paul-Rudd-in-I-Love-You-Man brain farts, where you're finishing a call with someone on the phone—like, say, a service provider or something—and instead of saying the normal words you utter some gibberish non-word and everyone pretends nothing happened? Me nethered.

Using AI reduces cognitive load significantly, it seems, which makes sense and is also a real concern/consideration. Genuinely curious followup question: No one seems to be asking whether or not our cognitive loads, in general, at this point in history, are normal, low, or high?

With AI, as with everything else it seems, there are only two camps of thought: 1) AI is the way of the future, we must embrace it, and 2) AI is the harbinger of doom, we must fear it. If I could improve humanity in one single way it would be to stop carving every topic up into two opposing camps.

Streaming music platform model idea. Users select artists a la carte. Standard price is set to have access to their catalogs. Price is set by analyzing current value of an artist's revenue from record sales over time. I.e., older, more successful artists are more expensive than indie acts.

One of the biggest challenges we face, in my opinion, is in the way we view and treat each other as individuals. It's disheartening to see how few people I speak with about political and social issues can parse the difference between a party and a person. Words and phrases matter. A lot.

Watching Ken Burns “The U.S. and the Holocaust.” I can’t help but notice ripples and echoes in our current public discourse, not at all dissimilar from some of the foulest ideas put forward then, as a way to make us afraid of our neighbors and to justify our basest instincts.

In doing some A/B comparisons between Bluesky and X, and the contrast is painfully clear (regardless of the political differences, mind you). Bluesky is just fundamentally less manic. It feels calmer. The moderation controls make all the difference. In a world of nonstop noise, it's *really* nice.
