I haven’t drawn in a while… I feel rusty!

It is always wonderful when people send you photos of your work out in the wild. “Six Buddha” in the Governor‘s office in Dover.

There were a lot of questions about the shapes that show up in my paintings… sometimes it is just math and sometimes it is a secret… here is a good example. Extra points if you recognize the shape!

During tonight’s class we had a live model. I spend most of the time walking around helping the students, but sometimes I try and whip something out as the seconds run out.

Tomorrow during Wilmington’s Art loop the show is open to the public, 5-7 and then every Saturday in October from noon to 2pm.

The first painting was selected by the Philadelphia Sketch club for their 161s Oils exhibition. The rest are the paintings that were not selected! Ha ha!

Yesterday I brought in someone to pose for my drawing class… I would whip out a small sketch as the timer ran down.

Tonight’s class, I did a drawing demo with a sharpie…

My students get to choose out of the dozens of objects I’ve collected, what they want to put in their paintings. I then take what they reject and do a painting of what is left. As you can see I paint the objects to fit the painting’s qualities, not as a painting of the things.

First draw of the new still life

I stare at this one every night before I go to bed. I feel that there are secrets contained that I should know, just outside my grasp. Just because you painted it, there is plenty you are not aware of! Perhaps it is contained in her story that is not mine to tell in words, but it is only for paint?

Keeping the pencil moving…

I just heard that my two entires to the 97 annual show at the Art Association of Harrisburg, ”Circular Conversation” and “The Artist Way” were both accepted! If you live anywhere near Harrisburg I would love it if you came out to see the show. May 16th through June 19th!
