Swung by the Bonneville Salt Flats, since I was curious to see how it looked with recent rain. The water was actually so deep it just looked like a shallow lake instead of the puddles surrounded by salt I was hoping for. Still pretty neat, tho!

I’ve wondered how to appraise author vs translator writing, particularly with the LotGH novels. There’s a distracting writing style where a conversation will start with a direct quote, then trail off into a summary in indirect speech.

As a general rule, I've found that if you like/didn't like the story then it's the original author. If you like/don't like the writing, then it's the translator. A translator takes the story and effectively rewrites the whole thing in their target language. The writing becomes their voice.

I saw a post by someone asking, how you can tell if a translation is good if you don't know the other language? How do you know it's the officially writer and not the translator you like/don't like?

The Forger last name is brilliant for the Spy x Family. Forge as in fake, but also Forge as in create. Strangers pretending to be a family for their own ends, but gradually creating a real family.
