I have a new appreciation for Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky since moving to Portland. Spiders are all over the place here, and I'm sure they are plotting against me. This book, however, is great ($3).

Exodus by Peter F. Hamilton is a some sort of game tie-in, but that doesn't matter. If you like gigantic space operas and haven't read Hamilton… you should! A fun read, even if not his best. But 908 pages for $2 is hard to beat.
