Taking a look at one of my favorite DS platformers. Trying to get back into doing some written content again. I love Yoshi's Island and this is one I revisit pretty regularly.

Yoshi’s Island DS Review
If there’s one thing that Nintendo has always done really well it’s the platformer. From the early days of Donkey Kong in the arcade to Super Mario Bros. on the NES and Super Mario Wonder on …

The first day back at school for the year. Taking four classes and at the end of the semester I'll be starting my junior year. Three history classes and a science class this semester.

Mega Man IV has been completed and I started Mega Man V right after. That game is so insanely easy compared to the rest of the series and the drop rate for 1-ups is ridiculous. My ranking of the games I've finished so far would be: MM 9 MM 2 MM 10 MM 3 MM 4 MM 1

I want to see sports games go back to art styles like this and focus less on the hyper-realistic look.

Not gonna lie, as a person who's old enough to have owned a 2600 when it was newish I would love to have this. The $435 price tag says, no thank you.

I put about 5-6 hours into God of War Ragnarok this weekend and I have to say I'm really loving it so far. Visually gorgeous. Kratos is still a, no pun intended, god-tier character. The puzzles are interesting. The combat is really solid. Didn't like GoW 2018, but love this.

I don't know if this is a hot take or not, but I think the GBA versions of most of the Mario games are the best way to play them, especially SMB3 and Yoshi's Island. SMB1 may be the exception where the NES is the best version.

Well, my plan to play Final Fantasy Tactics Advance somehow turned into me playing Chrono Trigger DS. Not sure how that happened.

Walked out last night to get something out of my car and was greeted by this little guy. I didn't have my glasses on at first so wasn't 100% sure what it was as its stripes don't go down its back. Stayed out and watched him explore the yard for a few minutes.

I think Windows Phone UI may have been the best in the business. It was perfectly minimalistic while still giving you plenty of customization options. This is using Launcher 10 on my phone. It's not perfect if you use a foldable, but I've always loved this design.

I've taken tons of typing tests to see how fast I type (which is around 95 wpm), but I've never done it to see how fast I read. Now I know.

I think at this point the only thing I'm missing, aside from re-releases and bundles, are the two DS games and I'll have the full series physically.

You know a historical video on YouTube is accurate when the subject is a Civil War battle in Arkansas and they show WWII-era artillery. Pretty sure the Confederate army didn't have Pak 38s. It also mentions Jeff Davis' home state as Missouri, which is wildly inaccurate.

Case 3 has been finished in Ace Attorney. Will Powers vindicated. I'm really loving this game. It forces you to really pay attention to everything going on in the story, even if like many similar games you have to jump to some utterly silly conclusions to push the story forward

After fiddling with a config file to map a couple buttons on the controller the Pi64 is up and running. It plays very nicely. Pi5 with 4GB of RAM overclocked just slightly and N64 games run brilliantly on it. I'll try to get some video of it running tomorrow.

"But how many people bought the game?"🙄 It doesn't matter. There are three million people playing the newest game in one of the biggest shooter franchises in history. Congrats to Bethesda, id, and Microsoft for another excellent entry into the franchise. I'll be playing soon.

The controller for my project came in so I can get to work on this. Going to possibly leave this as a dedicated N64. It can sit on the shelf next to the NES.

Going to take a break from Castlevania for just a bit and jump into another series I've never played. Break up the gameplay just a little bit and keep myself from burning out on Castlevania. I'll get to Aria of Sorrow as soon as I finish this game.

Credits have rolled on Harmony of Dissonance. Overall I really enjoyed this game. I thought it was miles better than Circle. Finished in 6:37 with 193.3% map completion. I got what is considered the good ending. I would play this one again. Looking forward to Aria next.

I finally made it past the wall I was hitting in Harmony of Dissonance and things are moving again. Took out Death and Talos. I have to say, this game is excellent, but does anyone else think the boss fights are a bit of a cake walk?

I seem to have hit a wall in my playthrough of Harmony of Dissonance. I cannot figure out where to go. I need high jump. I'm running into numerous locked doors and there's no good way to tell which version of the castle I need to be in.

Continuing my playthrough of the Castlevania Advance Collection and I can safely say that Harmony of Dissonance is miles better than Circle of the Moon was in quality. That game is so good. Everything about it feels better than its predecessor.

One good thing about my Xbox not working right now is that I still won't lose any of my progress on AC: Shadows. Since everything is an Xbox I can still stream to my phone or tablet and continue playing.

Well this sucks. I have to find someone that can replace the HDMI connector on a Xbox. Was trying to clean out the dust and in the process chipped a small piece the HDMI port so now it doesn't send a signal to the TV.

I modded my DSi last night to be able to run games from the SD card. It was surprisingly easy and I think it may have just become my go to emulator on the go.

I wanted a way to be able to store loose cartridges for my handheld systems, and old cassette cases are perfect. I just 3D printed an insert to hold the cartridge. This is a black and white test version of the cover to make sure everything is sized properly.

I just hit the 20 hour mark and got the Assassin's robes in AC: Shadows. Still, with the exception of the ridiculous size of the map, am loving the game.

This was such a cool shot of Yasuke and Naoe working together in AC: Shadows. I'm really enjoying the game for the most part. There are some things I don't really like, but my overall experience with the game while doing the Assassin's Creed bits has been excellent.

And that's credits on Castlevania: Circle of the Moon. I both loved and hated this game. Some of the boss fights were ridiculously difficult. Overall, it was a great experience, but I think it's safe to say I'll probably never play this one again.

Third parties better hop on that accessory train quick for the Switch 2. I cannot imagine paying this much for either of these.

Did a couple of test prints of a Dwarf Guild mini from One Page Rules. They're not display quality, but once painted will work nicely on the table. Each one took a couple hours to print. Gotta do a whole 2000 point army which will take quite a while, but it'll be nice to play.

I just hit the point in Assassin's Creed Shadows where Naoe and Yasuke meet up. I have enjoyed the story up to this point and I like the idea of them working together. I just want to play the whole game as Naoe, though wading through hordes of enemies as Yasuke is very satisfying

I'm about 7 hours into Assassin's Creed Shadows and I'm absolutely loving it. It's not perfect and there are things that I don't like, but the actual hidey hidey stabby stabby parts with Naoe feel very much like Assassin's Creed and it's so good. The story has been good and visually it's gorgeous.

Toys for Bob should be the go to for bringing back old mascot platformers. Give them Spyro, Crash, Banjo, Dak & Jaxter, Sly Cooper, Conker, Gex, Aero the Acrobat, Bonk.... all of them.

I think for most of 2025 I'm going to focus on some of my backlog (apart from AC Shadows which I'm playing now). Switch 2 can wait a bit. Gotta get through: Castlevania Advance Collection Castlevania Dominus Collection Horizon Forbidden West God of War Ragnarok Octopath I&II Dragon Quest I&II
