It feels like "nothing" but... - I learned to crochet - And embroidery - I made notes on a handful of writing projects - I dipped my toe into 3D art - Then toki pona - Then pixel art - And illustrated 2/3 of toki pona in pixel art - I started work on a shmup And that's the year. Not quite nothing!

I discovered yesterday that if I declare a class in Godot, I can choose that class in the node type dialog as long as it's not abstract! It's so nice being able to drop a node of type Enemy or Behavior into a scene tree rather than having to change the "extends" clause in a script. #GameDev

I saw someone mention setting up one of those anonymous question style things and it reminded me of the last time I set one of those up. I got a handful of small questions, followed by "hey are questions on 18+ topics okay" and after answering "no" there were no more questions.

It's a little dev thread about Final Stage Prototype! That's the shmup I'm working on. Anyways, for whatever reason, all of the open questions I had about Godot objects and nodes and scripts (oh my) coalesced into what I think is a workable architecture today.

So I'm working on a shmup, right? The number of times I've rewritten the enemy class just in the last few days feels ridiculous. I keep falling back on my object oriented training and can't tell how much it actually applies here

Instead of the "12 games to play" challenge I'm doing the "1 game to make" challenge where I try to release a single new game before the end of the year. I've started conceptual work on a shmup so let's see where that goes
