How could Matilda even think about going home and doing homework, when the playground time was so fun? Berry made a nice hide-and-seek partner and showed her the best places up there. It was almost as fun as watching the huge TV in auntie Judith's palace.

"I think it's getting late. Your mother is prorably home already" "I have it under control! Just a few more minutes"

"You know, six-years-olds have a fun way to make friends. They were teasing each other five minutes ago and now they are squealing with laughter"

The next evening, Matilda went riding again. Autumn in the valley suddenly brought clearer and warmer days, so she could do it right in her pretty dress.

Back at home, Matilda was put to do her homework. By herself, of course, because she's responsible and smart. Not because the butler watched her! Mom was busy with her best life, so Matilda had to wait for dinner to share her first riding experience - first day at school was long forgotten by now.

"Matilda!" "Hi! Missed you too. It sucks that my mom didn't invite you kids to my party. I was supposed to show off how grown up I am now" "Very grown up! But we're still friends, right?" "Of course! Let's go, I'll show you my horse before adults take us home. I already feel deadly uncles presense"

As soon as Matilda reached playground, she stumbled upon the other adventure seeker. What other five-years-old could be wandering around Ravenwood late at night all alone?

"Ouch... it's harder than it looked," Matilda grunted, trying not to fall from the saddle. "Can you be... less shaky?" "Are you even allowed to ride without adults around?" "What a stupid question. Without adults around, everything is allowed. Now, stay still!" "Guess I'm a babysitter now"

"Is that... finally! A pony!" Matilda squealed, reaching out to scratch the new pet "I'm actually a horse" "You're so cool! I'm gonna name you... Belle!"

When Matilda returned from school, mom was still not at home. What a pity, she really wanted to share her opinion about some boys and teachers. She decided to busy herself with swinging when suddenly saw a note. "Sweetie, if you're home already, go to the backyard. Your main gift should be waiting"

When the door behind her daughter closed, Wendy sighed heavily and looked around the kitchen. "We should really stop inviting Alistair to our parties."

By the time the guests left, Matilda was already asleep in her new room, feeling happy and satisfied. The next day promised to be special too... Well, at least for boys from elementary, who were going to fall in love immediately as soon as she showed up in her new class, she was sure.

Then was a dinner, of course. And many, many nice words (as she surely deserved) and even hugs. And even more gifts: at some point Matilda stopped counting all dolls, toys, pencils, books and other things everyone prepared for her and her first day of school. And mom was just smiling mysteriously...

"And this one is from me!" Alistair exclaimed. That was way better. At least someone here knew something about good gifts. "What is it?" "Some stuff for your own little theatre, little star." "Woah!"

"Ugh." How dared they to give her some cheap toys? She was a lady with her own (well, and mom's, but still!) manor and prettiest room and dresses, and also a future star, even more famous than auntie Judith! She deserved only the best!
