Thank you
@foeeurope.bsky.social
for this important statement. The NPPF protects and promotes fossil fuel interests - it must be changed.

Just terrifying how much more of this there is going to be Can't live near mountains, can't live near coasts, can't live near forests, can't live near rivers - where's everyone going to live?

In a climate crisis, there is no such thing as “insignificant GHG emissions”.

Fortunately it's a while until anyone can green or red light this. Govt guidance on how to assess climate emissions is still being written, and Equinor has yet to reapply for consent. Plenty of time for govt to take in what a disaster this would be, for the climate obviously but also for the economy

Keir Starmer - should you green light this, it will confirm once and for all that you are completely unfit to govern this country at the height of a climate emergency You must stand down - along with your inept chancellor and other neoliberal cronies

First UK assessment of GHG emissions following Finch Supreme Court ruling is taking place in Lincs Wolds beauty spot where our small local campaign group have been battling for 10 years. We will not go quietly into climate chaos. Please help fund if you can.

So cheering to hear Ed Miliband's positive and inspiring vision of a fossil fuel future on the Today programme today. It's great to hear a politician in power doing that. But what a shame he's going to spend billions on CCS. There's much better uses for that money.

Para 7 of NPPF: “At a very high level, the objective of sustainable development can be summarised as meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”

Is this a sick joke? How do you justify new oil&gas?

Onshore oil&gas exploration / extraction (especially in our National Landscapes, eg. Biscathorpe) is totally at odds with “sustainable” planning. NPPF must be changed to reflect this NOW.

The Conference of Oil Producers (COP29) succeeded again. The purpose of COPs is to delay meaningful action on climate change so as to permit ongoing high levels of fossil fuel use. This is true even for so-called & PR-slick world leading nations eg. the UK Rosebank oil field & UK airport expansion!
