Having lobbied Warwickshire County Council for years on behalf of concerned residents, I’m pleased to see the speed limit sign at the entrance to the Ribbons estate in Ansley has finally been moved. It’s important to make sure constituents feel safe in and around their neighbourhoods.

I recently visited Old Mill Surgery to see the impact that government funding has made to their practice. They have transformed old paper record rooms into two modern clinical spaces, allowing the team to grow and welcome more patients. Great to see this funding delivering for patients! 🩺

Empty properties should not be exempt from tax. Today I introduced my first bill to Parliament - on valuing houses and properties left empty. The current system rewards them for being a waste of space. This bill is the first step in tackling this issue and I’ll keep working until we solve it. ✅

💷 A BOOST FOR RETIRED BCSSS PENSION SCHEME MEMBERS 💷 ✅ From yesterday, former mineworkers in the BCSSS pension scheme began receiving a significant uplift – around £100 extra each week, plus a £5,500 backdated payment from November 2024.

As a member of the Labour Rural Research Group, I’d like to thank my colleagues for their work engaging closely with farmers and rural businesses on the real challenges they face. I welcome the government’s decision to increase the agricultural property relief threshold from £1m to £2.5m.

It’s been fantastic to see so many young people taking part in this year’s Remembrance events. Last week I had the pleasure of joining students at Etone College for their Trust Remembrance Parade. I want to commend all of the young cadets and students who honoured our fallen soldiers.

I’m deeply concerned by the proposal from Warwickshire County Council that would see children as young as eight to walk up to five miles to school. This idea is unsafe, unreasonable, and completely out of touch with the realities faced by local families.

Since being elected, I’ve been fighting hard in Parliament for Nuneaton. Now, that work is paying off. We’ve secured £20 million of long-term funding for Camp Hill through Labour’s Pride in Place programme - £2 million every year for the next decade. This is real change.

This afternoon I dropped into the CHESS Centre for Warwickshire Police's VAWG Community Safety event. Our Safer Neighbourhood teams regularly hold Women and girls' walks and drop in events across the community, for women to share their concerns, receive advice and personal safety freebies.
