Been grabbing leveling gear for current/upcoming jobs, but VPR is my last one and it's 90+ so I'm done with that... Otherwise, I grab stuff to level desynth and dismantle them right in front of Rowena's rep. That'll run out soon, and then...I guess they sit there. Or turn into GC seals.

I originally had an entirely different origin for Teejay. There was a whole group of islands he was from, and multiple events that connected to ARR. But wasn't really vibing with it, and then I played ShB and redid most of his origin because I loved that expac. I did keep the final bit of lead-in.

Teejay's not going to rush in with no plan unless it's urgent, but most situations change too rapidly to try to anticipate the specifics. He's cool under pressure and good at moment-to-moment strategy, so plan out the high level points and trust the rest will play out as it needs to.

I think Teejay would get pretty close. A lot of people might not expect the Roegadyn paladin to be flexible, and his armor might be the thing that gets in the way, but like many athletes he has a pretty good range of motion.

Early on, Teejay arrived on the Source with no memories; he was completely lost and confused and eventually taken by pirates. It was a random group of adventurers that saved him and paid for his passage to Ul'dah to go to the Adventurer's guild. I don't think he even got their names...

I think the people of the First don't know much about the Warrior of Darkness, and Teejay is okay keeping it that way. But I think he'd be outwardly humbled and inwardly giddy if someone named their child after him. Perhaps mildly surprised, too, given he doesn't have a traditional Sea Wolf name.

The First is in danger? Teejay is there ASAP. Unless Etheirys is at risk of being destroyed, he will drop everything and go ensure that what remains of his home shard survives.

He doesn't really. Being WoL is almost like alternate persona; Teejay pretends to be the fearless hero everyone needs him to be. The problem is he thinks those close to him are also relying on that steadfastness, so it's difficult to be vulnerable with them either. Everything just gets buried.

Teejay was an adventurer in the First but lost his memories going to the Source, so his PLD job arc is likely more about him remembering things than receiving knowledge from paladins past. I should probably come up with a more relevant (to him) plot for the PLD quests too; that's a neat prompt.

Ignoring the whole WoL power scaling/protagonist thing... He probably has a decent chance. One thing I've said before is he's got some training in a variety of different weaponry, so he'd likely be able to make use of whatever he finds. Though, if it's similar to FFXIV's PvP...maybe not.

Teejay loves swimming; he grew up near the water and it's his favorite form of exercise. Getting to explore below the ocean's surface was an amazing blessing indeed. I think he probably spent much of the early post-Stormblood time (before "things" start happening) swimming all over the Ruby Sea.

Thus far, every event/holiday is my first time going through it, so I don't yet have many decorations to put up in advance. Perhaps one day.

I think in the past I've said that it wouldn't take too much to stretch PLD into all three roles (especially if Alisaie can flex roles on RDM). Having a melee healer would actually be kinda neat, and I'd love to see what the DPS LB might look like.

PLD all the way, though during a lull in ARR early on, he trained in most of the non-job stone classes aka can wield a variety of weaponry. Though I haven't thought about if perhaps he started said training before he arrived on the Source but didn't remember that until later due to amnesia...

Assuming "last year" is mostly Dawntrail; Teejay didn't exist a year ago real time... But over the recent span of in-game events, Teejay is slowly realizing that world-ending trouble is probably always going to find him, so he doesn't have to stress over seeking it out or feel bad about relaxing.

Teejay will roll with whatever names or titles people want to give him so long as they aren't overly formal (e.g. referring to him by "<Honorific> <Lastname>") or weirdly cutesy. The most common one would be shortening his first name to "Teej" to shave off one whole syllable.

Male Sea Wolf because I tend to play buff tanky characters and also if you give me a fantasy setting I will pick the race with the weirdest colors.

Teejay is extremely careful, thinking over everything he says and erring on the side of saying nothing if he's not sure how it'll land. To others, this comes across as hard to read, as he won't often share his mind...

It has to be someone Teejay can trust, who he thinks will have a useful answer (and not just placations), and he's okay showing vulnerability to. Thancred and Y'shtola often hit all three boxes, but e.g. the twins and G'raha look up to him too much, and Urianger has lost Teejay's trust.

It's one of many events that makes Teejay wonder about free will vs fate. Is he the way he is because of the soul he inherited? Or is he free to define his own existence? Teejay would prefer to believe that he is his own person—self agency is important to him—but several signs point otherwise...

Occasionally he absentmindedly walks into the building next to The Pendants instead of The Pendants and has to live with the shame that the attendant has started to just immediately be like "wrong one" as soon as he enters. When he does get to the right suite he just buries his head in his hands.

I don't know why it never really occurred to me that the Arcadion Savage fights are basically WoL fanfic...

TBH I don't personally like how they decided to start calling attention to/lore justifying 8 person content having 7 other people, so a lot of instances (e.g. Arcadion) are just solo. But when he does use it, I imagine Teejay is summoning shades of his rejoined souls or past incarnations.

I think I've defaulted to the crossed arms pretty much since I first learned about /cpose.

Bulwark Between Worlds Which, for a paladin from the First who spends his time protecting both the Source and his home world, is a pretty obvious choice. (Also I really liked Shadowbringers).

I set it a few days into playing and haven't changed it since. Every so often someone notices and comments on it.

Teejay definitely enjoys cooking. His go-to thing to make would probably be his favorite dish from back home in the First: a nice hearty stew. I don't think he's an expert botanist or anything, but he does know enough to be able to supplement his stores of food while out adventuring.

My current thinking is that Teejay keeps his culinarian skills on the down-low, so he probably goes out of his way to not accidentally reveal that. Which likely means eating it and pretending it's good. Even if he's a bad liar, it comes across as trying not to hurt feelings instead of insulting.

Ancient ruins and adventure—he and his brother were always going on pretend adventures where he grew up. Pretty much everyone knew of the kids that ran about town with toy weapons, slaying imaginary monsters. Given both his WoL and OC forms are adventurers, it most certainly carried over.

An assortment of magitek armor/weapons, with a low chance for a barbecue spit (something that I inexplicably had in Teejay's inventory for months).

Teejay wouldn't know where to begin at my job, but he'd probably find where the food is so he'd survive. The other way around would depend on so many things, but hopefully I wake up in an inn and not immediate danger. I doubt I'd be be of much use without all of the training he has...

I have both WoL and non-WoL canons for Teejay. As non-WoL, his focus on understanding what brought him to the Source. He eventually figures it out, but too late—the Flood has happened. He then looks to find a way back to the First, arriving post-StB and trying to help what remains of his home.

In most situations, Teejay is wearing armor that is not very quiet, so like a 3. However, he's fairly good at disguising himself to avoid being recognized—I've been thinking that's how he does CUL things, almost like an alter ego that no one knows is the WoL. In that regard I'd say more like 8?

Water. Most of Teejay's stress outlets involve water in some way—taking a nice hot bath, or going for a long swim to burn pent-up energy, or diving under and basking in the tranquility beneath the surface. He's a Sea Wolf, go figure. I didn't even plan it that way.

Teejay's got experience with Allagan equipment, but people keep expecting him to work with magitek that he's not certified for. Someone's bound to get hurt. ...the bad guys. It's usually the bad guys who are getting hurt by the heavy magitek equipment Teejay ends up operating.

5.0 was impactful enough that I based Teejay's lore around it. A close second is the three quests starting from In From the Cold, because holy shit what a ride. Bonus shoutout to the 7.3 dungeon. The fights are fun (esp. the second boss) which I hope means good things for future combat design.

I'd choose the ShB combat music (Rencounter), in part because I think it'd be funny hearing sick electric guitars as soon as a fight breaks out, but only while in the First. Otherwise, I could feasibly believe that most of the Arcadion themes are already diegetic (M5 absolutely is).

I don't think Teejay would find success trying to teach new things verbally, but he would be good at practical instruction. I've written in the past that I could see him becoming a combat teacher as a "retirement" job, and it would primarily be through hands-on regimens.

The hope and faith others place in Teejay, and the knowledge that he doesn't have to solve everything at once; taking things one small step at a time and making even the tiniest bit of progress can be enough.

Teejay definitely prefers to stay in full armor most of the time, but even when wearing a more casual outfit, he especially covers his face due to (involuntary) facial markings that he doesn't want others to see.

Teejay wouldn't use a feral soul, but I don't think it plays out as canon either—rather than conveniently summoning a full party of shades, I think he just powers through the fights 1v1, with his more-rejoined soul countering the feral soul. If he did use one, I'd guess a soulkin like a Dullahan.

He'd see a lot of problems and trauma that have been buried and ignored. Negative events like the light poisoning in ShB that he didn't have time to process since there were Big Threats to deal with. Anxiety over making sure he correctly plays the role of hero to the public. etc, etc.
