The moisture this morning is turning into more freezing drizzle than light snow. Why? Enough moisture to make tiny supercooled droplets, not enough moisture for ice crystals to grow. Roads could get slippery around the Twin Cities through midday.

If any slippery spots develop in the Twin Cities, I would expect them from 9-11 AM. The morning and afternoon commutes will be dry...but don't sleep on those gusty winds Tuesday afternoon!

We take a turn toward more typical winter weather in the Twin Cities this weekend. Mostly cloudy, flurries from time to time, and temperatures in the 10s and 20s. This is a big change from the blowtorch of a February so far.

What if they made the entire hockey season out of state tournament weekend? God I love this time of year.

Colder, cloudy, and breezy Friday. You might see some flurries from time to time this weekend. Temperatures will be cold, but it will be good enough for some fun in the snow.

Man, everything came together to have the most spectacular snow forecast bust (see: gif) in the Twin Cities in a while. Even the most dire models didn’t have it cooling and sticking so fast. Le sigh. I hope I was able to update y’all fast enough in real time.

There will still be bands of heavy snow wrapping through the metro Wednesday evening. The worst will be in the south metro. Roads will stay slushy and slippery (1/3)

There’s the band of heavy snow setting up in the south metro. 3-4” totals are likely, but anywhere between 494 and Le Sueur/Northfield could see isolated 5-6” totals. Roads will be rough in the south metro, and winds in open areas will cause whiteout conditions.

You can see the steadier snow lining up from about 494 to the south. The south metro is still in line for 2-3” of slushy snow and slippery roads Wednesday afternoon.
