🇮🇹 Patrick Braunhofer a solid day too! He won the 2nd semi over Invenius and Strømsheim, and was 2nd in the final. Came to the final shoot in the brunch. Shot quickly going for the win but had 2 misses. Shot fast enough that he got off the loop and fought back with 2 very strong final loops #biathlon

🇸🇮 Jakov Fak showed some veteran moves today. Was never going to hold the younger guys in the skis but he had some excellent shooting in some tricky conditions at times. #biathlon

🇮🇹 Birgit Scholzhorn was impressive though. “Just” 3rd place today but it was very strong. She fought back from a slight early deficit very well. The fast shooting on the 3rd shoot was a great effort to go for the win early. Loved seeing her go for it. Didn’t pay off but a great effort #biathlon

The difference in the women’s race proved to be shooting speed in the final shoot. Both 🇧🇬 Hristova and 🇪🇪 Külm were 4/5 Hristova was quicker giving her a hard earned slight edge. Külm pushed hard but could never gain those precious few meters back. Hristova held on tenaciously for the win! #biathlon

In the women’s final 🇧🇬 Lora Hristova and 🇪🇪 Susan Külm were near the front of the race all day. 🇮🇹 Birgit Scholzhorn joined them after the 2nd shoot and when she went 4/5 with a fast 3rd shoot she gained a slight edge. Ultimately doomed by a 3/5 final shoot while Hristova and Külm went clean #biathlon

🇳🇴 This was just a roller ski biathlon race with a small field in late June. But for a man who desperately needs to find the form that made him seemingly a key part of the Norwegian biathlon future maybe this come from behind win can spark Sørum’s rise back to the World Cup! #biathlon

Men’s Final in Frassinoro was a tight battle the entire way. Almost the entire race saw Jakov Fak up front alongside Patrick Braunhofer, Christoph Pircher and Otto Invenius. Sørum was always about 5-10 sec back. But Sørum cleaned the last and blasted away on the final laps for the win! #biathlon

Semi finals and finals are more traditional biathlon races. 5 laps of skiing with 4 shoots. 2 prone and then 2 standing. Penalty loops for misses. First one to the line wins Stream picked up middle of the women's semi final and I have no idea what's happening #Biathlon

🇮🇹 Marco Barale and Nicolo Betemps pulled out due to illness today so that will do it for the warm up time trial duels. Next up women's semis. It will be 4 in one semi and 3 in the other. Top 2 from each semi move to final. Top 3rd place time advances as well #biathlon

Men's group 5 is duel between 🇸🇮 Lovro Planko vs 🇮🇹 Patrick Braunhofer. Relaxed pace on the skiing portion. Braunhofer the faster shooter goes 3/5 prone with 4/5 standing. Planko also 3/5 prone and 3/5 standing #biathlon

Men's group 4 has 🇸🇮 Jakov Fak and 🇮🇹 Didier Bionaz facing off in their time trial. Fak with some of the faster shooting we've seen and he goes 5/5 prone followed by 4/5 standing!! Bionaz a little slower shooting hits 3/5 prone and 1/5 standing. JAKOV FAK! #biathlon

Missed most of the 2nd men's loop. Couldn't tell who was racing along with 🇳🇴 Endre Stroemsheim. Maybe 🇩🇪 Franz Shaser? Stroemsheim went 6/10. Schaser (?) 7/10. Roughly equal times #biathlon

Men starting with defending champ 🇺🇸 Campbell Wright who in absolute silliness. He's up with 🇮🇹 Christoph Pircher. 3/5 for both prone. Then 3/5 standing for Pircher and a much slower 2/5 standing for Wright. Wind blowing swiftly L to R across the range now #biathlon

🇸🇮 Anamarija Lampic is all by her lonesome as their are just 7 women this year. Missing having the Slovakian and Canadian athletes like we did last year! #biathlon

First race of the day is the qualification "duel" with 🇮🇹Birgit Scholzhorn and 🇭🇷Iva Moric. These races are really just warmups to determine the semi-final seeding. Quick lap followed by prone and then immediate standing shoot. Each miss worth 5 seconds penalty #biathlon

🇫🇷 The French federation announced today that Justine Braisaz-Bouchet has decided to do her own training this summer. She did a lot of this last year as well citing her desire to spend more time with her family. The French team is fully supporting her in this plan 📸IBU #biathlon

🇸🇮 Well didn’t expect this news today. 26 yo Anton Vidmar will not be continuing with new Coach Armin Auchentaller’s Slovenian squad as he has announced his retirement. He just had his most consistent season with 8 top 30’s in 18 races as he finished 46th Overall #biathlon

🇫🇷 Looks like a fall for Emilien Jacquelin in early May and had a clean break of his collarbone. Easy bone to break! He's already back on a stationary bike and he'll make his pro cycling debut later this Summer. Simon Fourcade quoted and sounds optimistic. Should be full go for biathlon! #biathlon
