Drawing trees has always helped me think. This poem became an exercise in teaching myself how to get through the many long slow short gray days of fall and winter and spring and any other time when life feels unbearably endless.

apparently i go through like, one ball-point pen a month, doing my nightly journaling. theoretically the box of 36 pens i got could last me 3 years... except im convinced pens have a casual relationship with spatial permanence (as do i, most likely). also, couches love to eat things.
