PASSED✅ This week, the Massachusetts House passed our redraft of the PROTECT Act (H.5305) to strengthen due process, limit civil immigration enforcement in sensitive spaces, and expand protections for victims and communities—advancing fair and equal treatment under the law.

🚧 Today, the MA House passed a bond bill authorizing $300M in Chapter 90 funds for local roads and bridges - $100M more than our historic annual investment. It also includes $885M for critical infrastructure: small bridges, culverts + traffic safety + congestion relief. #mapoli

Yesterday, the MA House passed the Shield Act, which would ban the dissemination of peoples’ cellular location data. In the face of national threats against reproductive and gender-affirming healthcare, MA remains committed to protecting the safety and privacy rights of everyone.

We are paying dearly for the absence of civics education.

Last week, the MA Legislature enacted the FY26 Budget. Signed into law by the Governor, this budget makes critical investments + initiatives to make the Commonwealth more affordable, while maintaining a commitment to fiscal responsibility in the face of uncertainty in Washington.

Went to the 12th Annual Principal for a Day event at the new Doherty yesterday - a great opportunity to meet with our exceptional WPS administrators + discuss how we can support students and faculty in our community. TY Superintendent Monárrez and Worcester Education Collaborative for hosting!

This morning, I had the opportunity to listen to Chancellor Collins provide a briefing on the state of operations at UMass Chan Medical School, especially in light of the potential funding cuts to the NIH. TY for hosting me and my colleagues + providing valuable insights on this critical issue.

I stopped by Desi Bar & Grille to grab a bite with the owner, Kabin Bhutel! This is a wonderful family owned restaurant featuring food from India and Nepal located near Rocky’s Ace Hardware on Chandler Street. For those who may be unfamiliar with this cuisine, they offer buffet style lunch!

Terrific visit yesterday of the South Middlesex Opportunity Council Modular Housing Construction project in Worcester. I look forward to seeing how this project may serve as a model to address housing affordability across our Commonwealth. TY Rep Michlewitz for joining us out in the district!
