Honestly, the Korean crime drama, #ThePriceOfConfession, felt the most like a Western series that I have seen in some time. There are two crimes being investigated concurrently & the resolutions are straight forward with little societal critique or commentary usually found in Korean dramas. 3/5🪛

The second season of #CastleRock continues the blending of Stephen King's works with a new central mystery. This time around, there is a more obvious supernatural element that directly ties into the explored themes of immigration & mental health far better than season one explored its themes. 4/5💊

The first season of #CastleRock is basically a love letter to the works of Stephen King. While familiarity with them isn't necessary, the knowledge will definitely grant a greater appreciation for the "original" stellar mystery & characters of this world. While #MotherOfFlies is another win for independent filmmaking, it also makes me wonder if the family film production studio might already be showing its limitations. Like past films, the movie uses effects & long scenes to extend runtime without developing story or themes. 3/5🪱

The second season of #PercyJacksonAndTheOlympians continues the show's impressive success in adapting the books, changes & all. While a transitional season setting up future storylines/arcs, the series still manages to develop & give time to established characters &, story. 4/5🔱

Obviously, very late to this party & have only seen the first season, but #TheApothecaryDiaries rocks. A cute anime that deceptively hides its depth, intrigue, intelligence, & compelling narrative much like many of its interesting characters. Also, great animation. Now, off to find season two 4.5/5🐍

One of the more surprising films from 2025, #Marshmallow is an intriguing "horror" movie that follows a traditional "teens at camp" setup but in actuality is something entirely different. Completely relies on the twist, so sort of a one time watch, but still worth doing so. 4/5🏕

Well, #BoneLake was a massive disappointment. Just a mishmash of other, better films that aspires to be clever but ultimately doesn't really have much of anything of substance to say. Felt more like a well made music video or YouTube short that was unnecessarily extended. 1.5/5🔒

Tbh, I was expecting more of a supernatural/mystic vibe based on teasers/trailer, but #BeastOfWar plays it pretty straightforward with its story of a group of Australian WWII soldiers lost at sea being terrorized by a Great White. Solid special effects though. 3.5/5🦈

Finally saw #Parish & while I enjoyed the show, I can see why it was canceled after one season. Esposito is great, even if perhaps typecast, but the issue is that the series doesn't do much to differentiate itself from the many shows about "good" criminals trying to survive the criminal world. 3/5🚘

‘ZOOTOPIA 2’ has become Disney’s biggest animated movie of all time worldwide. The film has passed $1.7 billion so far.

So, Peacock may be setting itself up as the go to for spy thriller series with #PONIES after "Copenhagen Test." Impressive cast with great chemistry, solid mystery, decent action set pieces, and plenty to build off of. Fingers crossed for a second season announcement soon. 4/5🧴

I will give credit that #TheRip on @netflix.com knows exactly what it is: a dumb, bit over the top, action cop drama bouyed by a cast made up of excellent to "good" actors. If in the mood for a decent watch where you can shut your brain off, this is a pretty solid one. 3/5👮🏻‍♂️

Somehow, the #SevenDials adaptation on @netflix is seemingly both a great Agatha Christie adaptation & not. It gets the mystery aspect of the novels but doesn't quite get the social dynamics & relationships that ultimately make the mystery work. Solid casting with good performances though. 2/5🕰

Unless you're already a fan of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre," the documentary #ChainReactions will probably provide little interest. It doesn't really delve much into the film's production focusing more on the cultural impact through various perspectives, the film had. 3/5🪝

Always found it weird when LA/NYPD would investigate international crimes, but I guess it's a universal thing. #Vigil, the BBC series available on Peacock, is basically 2 queer, female Scottish cops investigating military crimes while dealing with their mutual messy domestic life. 3.5/5👮🏼‍♀️

If, based on promotion, you are expecting a sapphic, fast paced, action filled genre throwback flick, #StoneColdFox will probably disappoint. While paying homage to genre films of the past, the movie plays it mostly safe with music & visual effects doing the tribute work. Still a great cast. 3/5🛼

Not having read the book #PeopleWeMeetOnVacation is adapted from, cannot state how faithful an adaptation it is. However, as a rom-com, the @netflix.com movie is a pretty good one. Bit long, but Bader & Blyth are both talented, charming, & engaging enough to warrant a watch. 3.5/5🏖

The first season spends quite a bit of its six episodes setting up a lot of backstory & narrative through exposition that I assume will be dealt with in future seasons, but #lastsamuraistanding still manages to present an engaging story with interesting characters. Looking forward to more. 4/5🔖

Although it blatantly wears its influences on its sleeve, #MinorThreats manages to differentiate itself enough by the end and does set up an intriguing dynamic and potential for its "D-List" villains' future adventures. Definitely worth checking out if a comicbook fan. 4/5🪀

While a bit mispromoted as it is not the teased zombie horror film of trailers and posters, #WeBuryTheDead is an Australian drama starring Daisy Ridley that centers on a widow journeyinf through the Tasmanian outback in search of her husband after a horrific tragedy. Definitely worth a watch. 3.5/5🏍

While unfortunately #TheLazarusProject was canceled after ending on significant cliffhangers, the two seasons it did show were some of the most interesting explorations & depictions of time travel in modern media. Some solid moral & philosophical discussions as well. Still worth watching. 3.5/5🕑

My first theater film of 2026 is #Anaconda, the 2025 reboot(?). It has loose connections to the original & instead pivots to be more of an examination of second chances, regrets, choices, & trying one final push to achieve dreams with a big side of industry meta commentary. Not a bad watch. 3.5/5🐍

It had some flaws, definitely forgot some plot points, & not quite sure the ending was totally earned, but #Acapulco on AppleTV was a Latin lead comedy with known talent that launched a few careers & managed 4 seasons, virtually unheard of now, so it earned its flowers & accolades. 4/5🏖

The film continues the exploits of "CW" as she has managed to escape from her island prison & attempts to move on with her new girlfriend before her old life comes to haunt her. 3.5/5🤳

Finally watched #HIM. While I get why many didn't quite gel with movie & its over-reliance on visuals/VFX, I do think it is an interesting exploration of exploitation in entertainment & the lengths we'll go to for success particularly along racial lines. Ending doesn't quite feel earned though. 3/5🏈

While sold as a spy thriller, I think #TheCopenhagenTest has more of a whodunnit vibe. We are told who is responsible for Alexander's predicament. We even have clues as to the true "mastermind." The 'how' & 'why' are the mystery & one is left unresolved for next season, hopefully. 3.5/5📘
