Here are my three pieces in the Watercolor Art Society-Houston February exhibit "Framed Feelings." (I also have other pieces in the sales gallery.) The opening reception is Sunday, 8 Feb 26 at 3:30pm. The show runs through 21 Feb. The gallery is open from 10-3 Tues-Sat at 1601 W Alabama St 77006.

Since "Cosmos on a Pink Table" was well-received, I decided to re-post "Cosmos." "Cosmos" is also acrylic and collage but on a 12" x 12" canvas. I do enjoy using complementary colors! Available at paulshain.art/cosmos.

My latest creation: Cosmos on a Pink Table, acrylic and collage on paper, 30"x22". This is the largest piece I've made. It was inspired by a class taught by Pam Soileau and Susan Giannantonio at Watercolor Art Society-Houston.

I'm happy to report that @watercolorhouston has found a new home for my Aqua Cosmos.

During @judywoods_artist 's #ArtForGoodWorkshop (which I enjoyed), I painted three 12"x12" pieces. I mounted these on a 36"x12" cradled panel. (Click on the picture to expand it and see it all.) "A True Dichotomy," acrylic, collage, oil pastel, colored chalk (Conté) on paper, 36"x12" (2025).

Three pieces for the August show at @watercolorhouston from Aug 3 to 30. The theme is "experimental." These pieces all include materials that I had not used before. Marble Trails, acrylic and collage on panel, 10”×8” (2025) $105.

Created earlier this month during a workshop by Sue Bishop at the Watercolor Art Society-Houston. “The Unheard Refrain,” acrylic on paper, 12”x16”. Thank you, Sue, for the fun, the lesson, and the encouragement! This one has really grown on me.

I wanted to document how tidy my studio is. I cleaned up to prepare for Sunday's Open Studio at Art Square Studios on Almeda (IG: @artsquarestudiosonalmeda). I show the four walls of the studio and two shots showing the paintings on the wall outside the studio.

Art Square Studios on Almeda is hosting an open house on Sunday, June 22, from 1-5pm. Please visit and be amazed by the art! 5301 Almeda Rd, Houston, TX. Parking is available in the lot behind the building and on the street. The entrance is behind the building.

The theme of June's exhibit at IG: @watercolorhouston is "Pop Art." These three (WAS-H!!! (Sorry, Roy), POP'S MUG, and POP CATS!) await hanging. The show opens with a reception Sunday, June 8 at 3pm following a demonstration by IG: @krfineart at 2pm.

May's exhibit at Watercolor Art Society-Houston (watercolorhouston.org) is titled "Scenes Through a Window." I submitted these three pieces. The opening reception is Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 3:30 pm at 1601 W Alabama St, Houston, TX.

These pieces from my Reflections series will be on display at the Watercolor Art Society-Houston's monthly exhibit starting Sunday, February 9. Stop by if you're in the neighborhood (open Tuesday through Sunday 10-3). All are acrylic on paper, 12"×18" (2025).

The cold weather has me pining for summer (which in Houston can be unbearable). Here are Summer I to Summer IV. Acrylic and oil pastel on paper, each 10.5”x14.5”. Any suggestions on how best to display them. Individually? As a quadryptych? Maybe mounted on panels in black or maple floater frames?

I enjoyed painting this sketch of the Rothko Chapel with a group of artists one year ago. I hope the new owner enjoys it, too. Rothko Chapel. Watercolor, fineliners, watercolor markers, 7”x10” (2024).
