Astounding poet, Mary Jo Bang, has a brilliant translation of Dante's *Inferno*. While retaining the meaty depth of the original, it's told in modern language, with references to everything from Pink Floyd to Cartman from *South Park*. I read it straight through like a thriller.

I had a chance to talk with Salman Rushdie at the Tucson Festival of Books. I told him that ITW was one of the first writer groups to denounce his attack. He replied, “I definitely want thriller writers on my side.” A lovely and sage man.
