I had a successful and emotionally fulfilling day at the Texas Legislature today advocating for the arts - exemplified by only having a single business card left. There's a lot of good people out there still fighting for what's right.

I don't know if I could ever actually put into words what Star Wars means to me, especially at this particular junction. And let me be clear, before we start, that when I pictured myself in the Star Wars universe, I was never a hero. I was exploding Awing pilot #4. That, it turns out, is key.

Yesterday I was lucky enough to see Ty&Co's performance of "What Remains" over at dada lab. Today, I get to attend a Presence in Practice workshop with my friend Justin Scalise. It's a good weekend for art and practice, my friends.

It actually is very important that you do things that you take pleasure in, regularly. That is part of how you survive the things that feel like they are going to destroy you.

Just so we're absolutely clear here. My dance classes are ALWAYS safe for you if you enter with kindness in your heart. I have absolutely no patience for bigotry, sexism, racism, anti-LGBT+ sentiment, or anything else that might hurt ANY of my amazing, awesome friends. Do not bring that here.

Every creative and adjacent I know has vowed to focus on their art the next four years. I am in that mindset as well - first time around I let this destroy my body and my mind, and that's not happening again. Dance, reading, community, art, and exercise. I'm not letting the despair destroy me.

My 2025 goals are fairly intense: I'm moving into the next phase of life, but my major goal is completion. I have a tendency, and am not alone, to start projects and not finish them. That needs to stop. It's perfection paralyzation, which keeps me from actually DOING. No more. What about you?
