Got one of these more entry level scanner doodads to try out. I think it should hopefully do better than the Kinect I was using haha. Also dog posting, I REALLY gotta get this fella finished up already!

Dog time this weekend was busy! Got the last of the inserts cut out for the hood, got some special products. Then everything was fitted, prepped and glued in place! Still going to seam seal it once the glue dries and I clean it up.

Ok so I have a hydraulic press now and it does a really nice job on stamping things

Spent a bit of time this evening cleaning up and starting to cut out the sheet metal bits for the hood underside. Gotta flatten them out yet though!

Would have liked to get more done this weekend but I did get the underside of the hood primed!

Not much time for dog time today, but I did scrounge up a PWM controller for my radiator fans which will be pretty cool

Pretty happy with how this corner of the hood cleaned up. Some time before I came along, someone boiled a battery and cooked the paint off the underside of the hood, letting it rust. Abrasive cleaned, phosphoric acid, and more abrasive. Looks very good and ready for epoxy!

It's wild what you can do with a 3D printer at hand. The stamps are plain ol' ABS, the steel is 28ga (but I plan to hopefully use 20ga) and I used my bench vise to press it. Gonna need a hydraulic press to try the real deal though.

Hello, insomnia (someone tranquilize me please)

13 pieces total, but they're all mapped out! Something tells me future me might not appreciate cutting all these out haha. Printing out some stamps to put some details in a few of the bits.

Patterning out a bunch of insert pieces for the underside of the hood to help give it a smoother look (and also hide the glue tabs that are gonna be ugly after repair)

Spent the evening cleaning up the underside of the hood so I can get the crust sorted out on it. Not too sure what the gunk was, but it sure was a pain to remove!

Got the hood to a point where I think I'm happy with it, wanna clean up the underside before I get into blocking and stripping it though

Not much dog time this weekend. It was spent road tripping instead!

Also gave the car and the new-to-me radiator fans a wash (which was for naught since it rained today)

Tried my hand at painless dent repair / Glue pull repair last night, turned out not too bad! I am very slow at it though, haha! Fun to learn however.

And the completed watch! Did some orange accents to compliment the face and add some interest, and got a matching nato strap to go with it! The one stripe ended up shifting as the resin cured but that's just how things go sometimes!

I had another Chalet watch that was missing a band, and decided to do a carbon insert on this one. Quick little project! 🐶

More of a social weekend this weekend it would seem! Went to the scrap yard today with a friend, managed to find a few bits for the Z. Stopped in at another yard quick, didn't find any parts but did see some fun shapes!

Been picking away at the car in the evenings, a friend gave me a much nicer seat that I installed for the time being, and I worked on finessing the fender fitment some more and getting the refreshed door hinges installed. Pretty happy with where it's at!

Got the left side all fitted up and where I more or less like it, and pulled the hood out so I could check it over for dents (of which there are many) Also got the thread inserts for the left side rocker molding installed 🐶

Couldn't focus on the fender this evening, so I traced out this panel section so I can make up a new one since this one is rusted pretty bad in the upper seam for some reason. I think the tow hook might be tough, I'll have to try and salvage it from the original part.

Doing a bit of dog time catch up

So it turns out past me was thoughtful and booked today off work in case the flight home ran late Too bad present me is a silly dog who assumed past me didn't do that haha

Dog time was postponed this weekend because me and some good friends (old and new) went to BC to do some driving and sightseeing. Absolutely incredible weekend, I'll be missing this for a good while.

I've seen them often, but never tried one of these before. They caught my attention at the supermarket today for some reason. What a fun shape for a fruit!

Had a hard time focusing on things the second half of the day, not really sure why. Still got the fender smoothed out a bit more, rocker molding is bolted on now, and got the car spun around so I can fit up the left side. Also did a new mock up photo with the air dam

Finally did something about not having a seat in this thing, which made it kinda annoying to move around. The bracket is very substantial compared to the cheapest seat I could find haha. It'll do for now!

Late dog time today since it's been a busy weekend! Got the fender gap a bit smoother, I'm pretty happy with it now!

Going blue for #watchwednesday this week

Got a little bit of time in the garage today, worked on the fender fitment some and it looks like I'll need to add some material to the edge to get it right. Also got some high build primer onto the air dam piece, I think it's about ready to start prepping to pull a mold from it!

It is one color once again! Might track down some filler primer and block it one last time though, not too sure.
