I separated a new “low light” shelf for all my Heliamphora Pulchella and all my crosses with it. Pulchella is sensitive to too much light. I keep overlighting them, so I’m separating them out.

Heliamphora Godzilla has 3 simultaneous growth points coming up at once! She divides for me a LOT and I am very happy with its growth!

Just got a beautiful H. Tatei! I’ve been wanting a pure species for a long time. I see where H. Godzilla gets its pitcher shape from!

The drosera bog after a VERY long overdue cleaning! I’ve been working on not watering as much. There was huge algae and detritus buildup, but now everyone is looking happy!

My advice to make a very happy drosera Capensis? Put it in the back of your bog and forget about it entirely for 6 months. Oops!

Pups exhausted after a long weekend with family

I’m on vacation so my partner sent me a video of the plants 😂 Thought I’d share the carnivore shelves.

The golden retrievers were being especially cute today.

Yall, I received my new baby nepenthes Hamata today!!!! This plant is SMALL but I can’t wait to see him grow. Already you can see the toothy peristome and the super hairy lid. They will darken up with age.

I didn’t realize how crazy big my monstera had gotten.

HUGE ~5” pitcher on my ventricosa! It has 3 vines and like 4 basals. I wasn’t ready for it to get so big.

Got a new flytrap today that I found in the store. It has fusion in the teeth of the traps about half the time. It looks like a little Mohawk!

A brand new pitcher opening on Exappendiculata (on the left). I potted these two plants together in the same pot assuming they were the same clone. Lo and behold, the clones are VERY distinct 😂

I’m 30 and I work in a field that doesn’t require much tech or writing. My friends convinced me to use chatGPT to edit an email to a supervisor… I had no idea large language models had changed so drastically in the last few years; I get why people who don’t understand LLMs think it’s a god.

@dapper-dinosaur.bsky.social this is a rhizome in one pot and a related species that is growing from its rhizome next to it! You can see what the rhizome is pretty clearly in sarracenia like these. :]

This has been a long time coming for me. This is my newest Heliamphora — Heliamphora “Godzilla”. The biggest pitcher is 16” and this isn’t even near full grown. You can see how much taller it is than the other Heliamphora near it. Thank you @dangerlettuce.bsky.social !

Heliamphora spec. Akopan from @dangerlettuce.bsky.social This plant traveled to me perfectly. Heliamphora are very fragile, and they will often get damaged and struggle to acclimate when you give them new conditions. This one traveled nearly perfectly and is already giving me new pitchers.

Today was tough. My housesitter has been locked out of my carnivorous plant collection for nearly 48 hours while we were on our first vacation in almost 5 years and maintenance wouldn’t help me get them back in. I took photos in my family’s back yard to calm down, so I thought I’d share.
