#ProjectNewDawn update: Finished major optimizations to the day/night cycle and environmental audio. The cycle’s been fully restructured for efficiency, and the audio is now more efficient and positional-based (still needs polish). FPS not only stabilized again, but it went up. #gamedev #indiegame

Got some work done. It sounds simple, but it's a huge difference — I finally got the day/night system to transition properly with a quick fade-out and fade-in to hide the LUT switch. Guys, I’m a total dumb dumb. I accidentally set most particle events to parallel even though I used a master switch as a conditional to simply toggle visibility. I’m losing my brain... and my frames. 😭😭😭 So much work to redo...

Here’s hoping the movie does well — the game was phenomenal, and I’ve been waiting forever for a follow-up. Sleeping Dogs is easily one of my favorite games of all time.

I had a similar experience with my dad the other day—but instead, I was explaining coding variables, strings, conditionals, & arrays. Eventually, I just told him it’s like algebra, but instead of solving one equation once, you’re writing the rules that let the computer solve hundreds automatically.
