People who never really used TikTok don’t realize the loss it would for social media innovation or engagement if we lose it permanently. Like imagine if Instagram was worth a shit or if YouTube had any idea how to create a community environment. I’m sure Zuckerberg will save us, though. Smh.

It’s 2:30 am and I’m wide awake so I’ll just remind people, especially my journalist friends, that we don’t have to hate follow accounts anymore. Use Bluesky to follow stuff you want, not stuff you feel obliged to track. Be happy on social media, for a change.

I just remembered that Thanksgiving is almost here. I’m very exited for all of the madness that will be happening around the dinner table weeks after the election.

You guys remember when we all would spend time on “Twitter” and pretend that it wasn’t turning into a black hole of halfwittery? Good times.

I will say this. I was worried about not using twitter during the monthly Verizon internet outage but ya’ll are keeping things popping on here with updates.

I’m still trying to find people to follow but my moral dilemma is do I want to follow the same kind of accounts from the twitter “best practices” of follow every body or do I find a group here?

What if people used Bluesky the way we should have been using social media this whole time? Just having conversations without links and rage bait?

I’m an opinion journalist for USA TODAY and Gannett, which means I can actually have and express an opinion. The question is do I do that here and just sort of work out ideas I have for my own columns and those of my writers? The potential is vast.

I don’t know yet what the vibes on my profile here will be but I’m glad to be done using twitter. So hopefully Blue Sky can be a thing.
