I really enjoyed seeing June Bride again tonight after about 10 years! A sweet story. While not a Christmas tree in sight, it takes place in a snow covered Indiana in a charming old home. So quite appropriate for Christmas! 🎄

Rose Byrne was phenomenal in the tough to watch If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. Reminds me of the best tough to get through but brilliant Joanne Woodward films from Rachel, Rachel onward into the 70s. The Effect of Gamma Rays, Summer Wishes etc. What a performance!!!

Loved seeing the remake of Four Daughters, Young at Heart, after not seeing for 10 years. So different from Day’s string of musicals during her time at WB. We get wonderful songs from her and Sinatra but it’s firmly a drama. Lovely film, beautiful Christmas segment and very moving ending. 🎄

Tonight I’m watching Merle Oberon’s star of the month night on TCM with favorite These Three. Also watching two Christmas ones. The noir Cover Up with Dennis O’Keefe ( discovered about 2 years ago at Christmas) and Young at Heart with Doris Day and Frank Sinatra. 🎄

Missed A Single Man in 2010 inexplicably. Firth is absolutely superb. Also yes, as I’ve always heard, it is visually next level. An LA I want to reside in. Homes I want to as well. Boys I want to kiss. A film as melancholy as it is proper and impeccable, much like its main character George.

Enjoyed finally seeing Safe tonight. I’ve long loved Moore for her many diverse characters but it surprises me shy, disturbed, often barely audible and hard to read Carol was still unlike any of her others. What a performance and what a very haunting ending!
