Likes math. Asleep when you least expect it. His origins and motivations remain unclear.
Proof that pi is irrational: Consider the following table. If pi=A/B, the values are an integer multiple of 1/B^n, but they tend to zero super-exponentially. QED (Actually this shows that pi^2 is irrational)

In graph theory, there is something called "Scheinerman's conjecture." It was proven in 2009, so it's not a conjecture anymore, but it's been known by that name for so long that nobody wants to call it anything else.

Given that Mandarin has the ü sound, why is Ürümchi transliterated as Wūlǔmùqí in Chinese rather than Yulümuqi? (Ürümchi in Uyghur is /ʏrʏmˈtʃi/, Wulumuqi is /ulumut͡ɕʰi/, and Yulümuqi is /ylymut͡ɕʰi/. The tones are irrelevant, but if you write it 于旅木齐 it could be Yúlǚmùqí.)

Math is all about theorems. For instance, the Riemann existence theorem says there exist people named Riemann. The Riemann series theorem says there's more than one of them. The Riemann mapping theorem says that we don't know where they are. And the Riemann hypothesis says, maybe they're friendly.

My impression so far is: Chinese is a very structured language, with the added twist that you must learn how to draw your vocabulary words as well as how to speak them. Japanese is what happens when you make word games the basis of your language. The only rules are fun and vibes

Asked a question that lies on the intersection of model theory and topology. (I know a decent amount more about the latter than the former, so I may have used some terminology incorrectly)

What is known about elementary equivalence of open set posets of topological spaces?
Recall from model theory that two structures are called elementarily equivalent if they satisfy the same first-order sentences. In other words, two structures $\frak A$ and $\frak B$ of the languag...
