From how you worded it, that’s how it came across to me, so I apologies if I misunderstood you. I do agree that sometimes people need to let things go, but at the same time artists also have a responsibility to protect themselves. Like having clear terms of service in place.

I understand your point, and as someone who commissions artists, I don’t have the luxury to do it often, so there’s a level of trust involved on my end too. That said, if I commission someone, I don’t really see that as “taking a risk" I’m paying for a service to be completed regardless of if that -

artist is struggingly. They put themselves out there asking for commissions.

I’m a furry artist who is “traditionally unemployable” and in “chronic poverty,” but I’m also a client to artists. I see both sides. There’s still a responsibility to communicate with clients about delays or issues. it’s about transparency so people aren’t left in the dark after paying.

I don’t think expecting that is wrong. From a professional view, clear communication is part of maintaining trust between artist and client. When that communication breaks down, it can end up hurting clients, even if that’s not the intention. Yes I can have slow turnaround but if someone is paying -

you to put out work, its expected for you to follow through.
