Eco Club completed a School Waste Audit with Devon County Council. Our students weighed all of our recycling, then all of our general waste. It was really interesting to see what a good job we are already doing but also highlighting our next steps as a school to reduce, reuse and recycle.

Year 11 pupils completed their Duke of Edinburgh expedition.m over two days canoeing along the historic Grand Western Canal, demonstrating all of the D of E characteristics including resilience, team work and adventure. The pupils have now achieved their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award.

🚵Juniper Class headed up to Haldon Hill for their first mountain bike session of the new year. After spending a short session in the skills zone, the pupils then went around the Discovery Trail. The pupils showed great ability when cycling and will continue to develop this over the next term. 🚵

🧭Rowan Class ventured offsite for their first outdoor learning session. The pupils have started their National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS) where they will learn the basics of navigating. The pupils grasped navigation quickly and were leading peers and staff around Stover Lake and the woodlands 🧭

As part of their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award the pupils from Aspen Class did some volunteering at Burgh Wood, Modbury. The pupils were clearing paths and streams of debris and brambles making access into the woodland better. In terrible weather the pupils showed great resilience!

🌳 Year 7 thoroughly enjoyed their first year group trip to the park today! 🌳

🐣🐓🐔Newton Abbot Rotary Club have very kindly created an extension to the chicken's coop and run over the summer holidays for us. We are so lucky and grateful to have had their time, help, expertise and of course the amazing end product of the Chicken Palace! 🐔🐓🐣

💫 We would like to congratulate all of our Year 11s for their hard work, effort and determination. We would like to wish them well in their next steps. It has been an absolute privilege to be part of the journey 💫

🦀Beech went on a reward trip to Stoke Gabriel. We caught 47 crabs in an hour all thanks to some expertise from our student and his top tip of their favourite bait being smoked bacon! We enjoyed a drink from the local cafe and spoke to a local artist, before a scenic walk 🦀

Beech's reward trip was to Thorn Alpacas & Blackpool Sands. We were delighted to meet the alpacas, feed them & have cuddles! We had a fun alpaca quiz before learning more about their fleece and county shows. We had lunch on the beach, taking in the beauty of our coastline, and a seaside ice-cream.

What a brilliant Upper School Sports Day today! From the two celebration assemblies and the two sports days we have raised £379.07! £195.20 of that came just from the Dunk a Teacher today. Thank you Liz, Simon and Dave!

Cedar Class were extremely excited and proud to receive their Sports Day Certificates and Medals! 🪡🧵They have also been busy designing and creating their own hand puppets in D&T. They have learnt how to attach a button and secure two pieces of felt together using a running stitch!🧵🪡

The Helen Foundation award is presented to Romanie Ward, who has consistently shown the most commitment and determination to improve her work in the arts. It has been an absolute privilege to watch Romanie grow in confidence, light up the stage and bring so much joy to those around her.

Today we celebrated the achievements of our Year 9 and 10 students at a special assembly. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped us to say a big well done and thanks for all their hard work and effort this year!

What a fantastic day we had for our very first Sports Day at Glendinning! Excitement and energy filled the air as our Key Stage 2 and Year 7 students rotated around nine brilliant events throughout the day – including favourites like the plank walk, space hopper race, sack race, and many more.

🎨Through the incredible continued generosity from The Helen Foundation (www.thehelenfoundation.org.uk), facilitated by Daisi (www.daisi.org.uk), Year 9 students had the opportunity to enhance their learning in their current scheme of work focusing on ‘Community Art’.🎨

💫 👋 Today was a day of mixed emotions as we said goodbye to our wonderful Year 11s. They were the first group that we saw all the way through from Year 7 to Year 11. We are so proud of everything they’ve achieved in their time with us. Goodbye and good luck! 👋 💫

Year 11 residential - Day 2! We have visited Bristol aquarium and then found as many Wallace & Gromits as we could on the trail. We then visited Bristol museum followed by dinner back at base. In the evening we popped out for a quick game of ten pin bowling followed by an icecream. 😋 🍦

👨‍🍳 Huge congratulations to Jasper who took part in the South West Junior Chef of the Year competition for the second year in a row. Jasper was once again one of the youngest competitors in this prestigious event. A fabulous achievement - well done Jasper! Your meal looked absolutely delicious!👨‍🍳

This term Hawthorn have been working very well together inside and outside of school. We have been exploring Bradley woods, where the students gained more skills for part of DofE , we visited Mamhead obelisk, and litter picked and enjoyed some time at Teignmouth beach for an outdoor learning lesson.

🏰 Larch Class today went to Berry Pomeroy - both to the church and the castle - to find connections to the Tudors, specifically the Seymour family, and to the Reformation. They were especially impressed in the church by the very old Bible, the Seymour family tomb and the Reformation graffiti. 🏰

🎈🚗Today in Cedar class we built cars using Lego and powered them with balloons! By blowing up the balloon and letting the air escape, we used wind power to push the car forward. This helped us learn how air pressure and motion work together. It was also very fun! 🚗🎈

🪷🧘‍♂️🪷During the Summer Term, Year 10 students have studied ‘Taoism’ and ‘The Philosophy and Practices of Yoga’ in RE. This morning, we had a lot of fun trying out different poses at the end of the lesson 🪷🧘‍♀️🪷

On Friday Cedar class went to the Royal Albert Memorial Museum in Exeter. We really enjoyed it and did not want to leave! We were looking at the air-raid shelter which links to our World War II topic in History.

Today, Year 8 were treated to a question and answer session with a real-life Lord! We met Lord Kirkhope of Harrogate, who patiently answered our questions… and despite his panic, he managed to get the very important question of ‘jam or cream first?’ correct! #learnwiththelords #HouseOfLords

⚽️🏆On Friday 6th June our students took part in a Devon SEND football tournament which took place at Devon FA in Newton Abbot. Our Year 9 team earned a well-deserved 4th place finish. A huge congratulations goes to our Year 10/11 team, who were crowned League Champions! Well done to all involved!🏆⚽️

Year 8 students have visited Arts University Plymouth this week – they had a workshop based on either printing or illustration, followed by a tour of the campus to see all of the amazing facilities and resources. Huge thank you to AUP #artsuniversityplymouth for this fantastic opportunity.

💦 Oak Class completed their watersports sessions with a SUP lesson on the canal this morning. This was definitely the firm favourite of the three sessions they have taken part in! The clouds look a bit ominous but the rain stayed away… although some of the students did end up getting wet! 💦

🌟For most of our students, this was the first time they’d ever been involved in something like this. For the last 5 months they’ve worked so hard to learn lines, songs, choreography, remember when they’re on stage, and react to the other characters! Should we make it an annual event?! 🌟

🌟We could not be more proud of our students who performed to an exceptionally high standard in High School Musical twice today, including to a full house this evening! We will share photos once they’ve all been uploaded. Thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way! 🌟

🎭🏫🎹It’s TOMORROW! Our performers gave two incredible dress rehearsal performances today… we are ready to entertain you all tomorrow at 1pm and 6pm. Ticket sales have soared and we are expecting a full house! Programmes will be available for a donation on the night. We can’t wait! 🎹🏫🎭

In readiness for this weekend’s Grand Final, we have been celebrating all things Eurovision! In Sycamore, we loved playing the 'Guess the Year' game - there was so much laughter and smiles all round!

🎤🎵 Today we performed at the Devon County Show! It was our 3rd year here, having started 2 years ago taking just 7 students and today with an 18-strong group on stage. Some of our performers even sang solos! We are so proud of our students who were real ambassadors for our school 🎤🎵 #devonmusic

☀️🛶💦What a stunning day for a little kayak along the canal at Haven Banks! Oak Class had a brilliant morning which ended with some of them even having a little dip in the water! 💦🛶☀️

🎭🎶Rehearsals in full swing with choreography now being added! With just over a week to go until our performances of High School Musical, our students are working harder than ever. We are so proud of the work they’re putting in! 🎶🎭

Just a little snippet of the incredible weekend we had taking part in the Ten Tors Jubilee Challenge! The groups walked either a 9 mile or 11 mile route, a huge achievement for all after a cold night in a tent! 🏕️

🧗‍♀️On 7th May we took Year 9 students down to Marjon’s University for a Sports Day. The event is sponsored by Youth Sports Trust and had Year 2 PE trainees run a series of sporting challenges for our students. Our students loved the day. We can’t wait for next year! 🧗‍♀️

🇬🇧Year 9 ‘s music lesson this afternoon focused on the music of World War 2. We learned about Dame Vera Lynn as well as listening to other music from the era. The students were able to link the importance of very positive, empathetic music to the morale of the British people at the time. 🇬🇧

🇬🇧Cedar class are learning about Installation Art. Today’s lesson was based on the artist Cai Guo-Qiang. As today is the 80th anniversary of VE Day, we chose to use the colours red, white and blue. Cedar had lots of fun doing this project, the goggles were definitely needed!🇬🇧

🏕️🔥This week, Year 9 have been away camping in the Wray Valley. We were very lucky to have some sunny weather as the backdrop to our adventures in the forest. We have been orienteering, taking on teambuilding activities and building fires on which to cook their evening meal. A fantastic experience!🔥🏕️
