Some people with DID target autistic individuals seems to stem from both conditions. Research indicates that autistic people are vulnerable to abuse from people with Dissociative identity disorder and other, neurotypical individuals.

Many autistic people process and communicate in a direct, literal way, and can struggle with sarcasm, insinuation, or reading between the lines.

There is evidence that people with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) intentionally trigger arguments with autistic people if targeted. Misunderstandings can arise from the distinct communication and processing differences of both conditions can lead to conflict on both ends.
