Period piece from 1973. Lee Jackson’s post Nice, pre Refugee band’s final effort. This is the 2010 cd reissue.

They always make me think of my schooldays in the ‘70s. Happy days most of ‘em!

Rediscovering vinyl. A 14th birthday present from my sister in 1978. Playable but only just. Needs replacing. Might hang on until next year just in case there’s a 50th anniversary release.

Back in the day I realised the little drill hole meant it was an import but now in the age of Discogs I discover it’s a 1979 pressing from Greece. Fascinating.

Rediscovering (old) vinyl. Sounding very, very good.

Listening to the Wembley show (otd 1987). Shitty sequencing on this boxset. Gigs split across different discs. Makes it a pain to listen to.

The Great Gregorio. From a 2015 twofer. Greg’s second solo album released 1983. He would sometimes mention a third album in the pipeline over the years but it never materialised.

2005 reissue with bonus tracks. Replaced my mid 80s LP pressing. I remember a PH gig at the RFH 1990. Someone in the audience called out for Pushing Thirty. PH, 41 at the time laughed and replied “Pushing fifty, more like.” And now here we all are getting older and he’s a couple of years off 80!

Rediscovering (old) vinyl. Yeah it was clearly time to knock it on the head. On the plus side the opening two tracks are two of the sunniest songs they ever put out. For You is very much traditional Greg ballad territory and Canario is yer standard classical adaptation. 1/2

Rediscovering (old) vinyl. Turn it on Again was bought as a single at the time of release (1980) but I didn’t buy the album until 1983!

The Game from The Complete Works boxset. It’s such a long time ago now, I can’t remember if I got it direct from the fan club or ordered it from a shop. Pretty sure it was the former. The inner sleeve was saved when my original run of Queen LPs went to the charity shop years ago.

Rediscovering (old) vinyl. Had this nigh on forty years. Bought second hand. Wouldn’t mind getting the most recent reissue tbh even though this sounds great.

I was more into the longer pieces at the time but the shorter songs are really very good. Particularly Learning To Fly and Love Blind.

Rediscovering (old) vinyl. You can kinda see why Jon & Rick, especially Jon, parted company with the band at this point. The others clearly wanted to play something with a bit of balls!

Stones ‘72.

Disclosure Day at the pictures last night. A decent thriller. Not quite as sci-fi as I was expecting and maybe not as good as I hoped.
