Just landed from Australia ~ PastFX TD-Y. Evolved and improved recreation of the Buffalo FX TD-X which is in turn based on the venerable, large-format David Gilmour classic BK Butler Tube Driver. The TD-Y offers much more scope for tweakability and tone sculpting, in a pedalboard friendly format.

Current pedalboard. Added a vibe pedal that I’ve not used in a while and a new reverb and new compressor.

Just landed. Can’t wait to start recording, modifying and dropping my own Impulse Responses on this.

When I got my Jaguar I needed to get a strap for it. I came across this Mother Mary vintage cat printed fabric strap and just couldn’t resist. Aye, it’s a bit chocolate box, a bit cheesy, and some will say, a bit hipster, but idgaf.

#fuzzfriday Pigdog Z The Z is a high end replica of the mid to late 60s John Hornby Skewes manufactured and distributed ‘Zonk Machine’. The Zonk Machine featured 3 Germanium transistors and was very likely inspired by the MKI Tone Bender, though with pronounced treble and harmonic content.

Stunning, handmade Casein/Galalith (semi-synthetic, biodegradable plastic made from milk protein and formaldehyde, developed around 1895–1900) Plectrum from Raw Cat Picks in Mexico. Took over a month to get from Mexico to the UK, but well worth the wait. Casein is my fav material for plectrums.

New Muff Day (stop sniggering) Wren and Cuff ~ (Small Foot) Blue-Violet Caprid fuzz/distortion. Wren and Cuff’s love letter to the ‘Violet Era’ early 70’s Electro-Harmonix ‘Rams Head’ Big Muff Pi. How does is sound? rich, violin-like sustain with a slightly aggressive edge.

Anarchy Audio - Deadwoods. Aussie made horror inspired by two cult Japanese Buzzboxes. This fuzz is an abomination of square-wave obnoxious filth, guaranteed to destroy your amp. Sound wise, think Boss Heavy Metal mud wrestling a Shin-Ei Super Fuzz whilst nose diving in a Tupolev Bear.

New watch day. All my watches are mechanical and usually I wouldn’t be interested in a digital, however, I had a decent amount on a gift gift given with a previous watch purchase and was drawn to this just released metal 5000 series with a phenomenally clear negative MEP LCD screen.

My lounge mid century modern mini bookcase with Mrs Cthulhu’s Vicars’ and my shelves of coffee table books. Bet yer can’t guess mine?!

For anyone that may be interested I’ve had some moderate success dialling in a decent (Pink Floyd) style soloing tone for tracks like Time, etc. I’ve gone into more detail - regarding specific settings for using either the Fuzz Face or the Big Muff - in the ALT Text facility for each photo.

Full afternoon doing a string change and checking everything + setup on the Tele. Last one was 2 years ago so was definitely in need of some TLC. BTW I’ve used ThroBak pure nickels on the Tele for years - really excellent strings wound on the old Gibson (Elgin) machines.
