"I also brought some of Mr. Gambit's beignets," Becca smiled warmly, holding the plate out proudly, as if she'd made them herself.

Mere moments after it was requested, a cup of coffee was tucked into that limp hand. Coincidental, Calico had already been bringing it up, but the timing made it seem prophetic, at least!

Mama always said Sunday's meant for something else. Something not ... seductive. At all.

The words always made Becca smile. It was a layered expression, full of pride and happiness and genuine joy, but with a smattering of shameful guilt she could never quite get rid of. "Maybe ... breakfast. I think I got enough sleep." And nightmares. Enough of those, too.

The kiss on her hand made Becca blush as well. But on top of that, her lip quivered for a moment. Maybe it was the words. "I love you," she said softly, a smile wrenching its way through whatever struggle happened on her face in those breaths. "We are amazing." Not a lot of confidence, but still.

"I don't hate her!" she responded too quickly. "I don't know how to feel about ... about her, I guess. I don't hate her, but to think of all the things she kept from me. She loved me, so she kept them from me for a reason. I just don't know what that reason is."

"That was Ember. He kicked Mr. Logan. And I've already said sorry a lot for that!" Becca protested, sitting up as if she had to defend herself against a point that flew right over her head in that moment. Her expression immediately softened as she looked at the other. >

Her and Ember could beat anyone. The sleepiness of the morning was catching up to her as weary eyes counted stripes in the wallpaper. "Definitely not anyone." The tales she'd heard since she joined the X-Men, the things they've fought. It terrified her. "I'm not like you. You can do anything."

"I know," Becca said quietly, staring at the foot of the bed from where she rested. Sofia's hand felt good through her hair. It helped a lot. "Do you think I could be as strong as Miss Rogue one day? And chase off goblins like she did?"

"No," Becca said pitifully. She shifted along with Sofia, though instead of a shoulder she rested her head on Sofia's lap. "It was that awful woman, the Hag, that chased us," she explained in spite of herself. "Only this time she wasn't chasing us. She was breathing fire all over the place."

"I know." They weren't exactly subtle about their relationship around others. Because why would they need to be? It was still hard for Becca to grasp that. "I think ... I think I was having a bad dream," she murmured, explaining why she'd been sleepwalking again. Why she sought comfort.

It was hard to part now that they were here. Sure, there were alarms going off all through Becca's head. She should leave. But ... the bed was soft, Sofia was looking at her and they /were/ just talking. So Becca stayed. >

"Yeah but ..." Becca lowered her voice scandalously, cheeks on fire. "We're in bed. The same bed." Of course they were both fully clothed and Becca was barely under the covers with Sofia, but still! Unbecoming! Not suitable! Still, Becca reached out and brushed back a strand of Sofia's hair.

That was a lesson Calico was still struggling with. "Mama just wanted the best for me. She taught me everything ..."

Her reaction to the bite had been, perhaps, an overreaction. Mere moments later and the pain was a dull memory in her shin. Or maybe Becca just had other things on her mind to distract her. Like being close. In bed. "Shhhh. What if someone hears us? I shouldn't be here, Sofia."

"So it's still there?" She couldn't hide the expression of relief. "They only taught us eight planets in class, I was afraid to ask what had happened to it."

Well that all backfired. No stealthy escape for her! Biting her lip to stifle herself, Becca rolled over and offered Sofia the best smile she could muster. It came out extremely awkwardly. "Hey," she said, as if everything was alright.

Eyes went wide. As soon as her leg was released, Becca yanked it back and held onto it, burying her face into an actual pillow with a muffled sound of pain!

The blonde needed to make a hasty exit. Sure they were ... but then if they ... and this was ... It was not suitable! Yet with Sofia's head on her foot--long enough to numb it, too--it seemed an impossible task to slip free. Gingerly she started to pull her foot away, holding her breath.

At some point during the night she had sleepwalked again. Waking up now, she realizes she had ended up in @outlierjitter.bsky.social 's bed. She blinks the sleep from her eyes and the burn of her cheeks helps bring her into the world.

"Oh, I've never had coffee before. Mama always said it was only for adults. That it would make children unbecoming."

"Did you know that Pluto isn't a planet anymore? Mama always taught me that there were nine planets. That Pluto was the last one. Did something take it? Or destroy it?!"

"Pensive? No, I was just thinking about stuff. I, uh, just some things I learned."

Half-lidded eyes stare out the window into the middle distance as the teen is lost in thought.

Becca yawns and stretches. Then blinks Oh, she fell asleep in the stable again.

What was he-- He was behind her. Becca spun around, a fiery sword in her hands in a flash and held out awkwardly. The weapon was impressive but the girl holding it was obviously untrained with it. "Don't do that!" she yelped, realizing a second later what he was doing. The sword dispersed. >

"Mama used to say ..." she caught herself falling into that old habit. "Goblins are fairy tales but hedgehogs don't talk, either. But I do believe what I'm seeing, I think."

She liked animals. Horses, of course, more than others, but regardless. Isolation led to strange social circles. "But you're wearing sneakers. Are you sure you're not a goblin?"

"Is that ... a hedgehog?"

Humming to herself, Becca fiddles with a couple knitting needles and a ball of yarn, staring listlessly out the window. She's not very good with the knitting, missing her count regularly and mixing up her stitches, but it was a calming activity.

Lazily rubbing her eyes while sniffing the air. "Pancakes?"
