A NEW LEAF (1971) Dir. Elaine May A gem of dark comedy from Elaine May who writes directs and stars. It plays with the classic love story in a subtle offbeat way while staying both biting and oddly tender. A film that feels unique even now. The 70's were a great time for cinema indeed.🎞️📽️

MOVIE MOVIE (1978) Dir. Stanley Donen An interesting double feature idea that could have been sharper- 2 for the price of one in this set. The throwback charm carries it along with a committed George C. Scott and an early Barry Bostwick. Not essential but an enjoyable way to pass the time.🎞️📽️🎬

PRIME CUT (1972) Dir. Michael Ritchie A grim and oddly satirical crime film shaped by its era. Ritchie directs with confidence and Marvin and Hackman anchor it well. With an early Spacek and a notorious auction sequence it edges into exploitation while holding its ground. Dark tale from the 70's🎞️📽️

SWEET CHARITY (1969) Dir. Bob Fosse Fosse shows his talent and MacLaine brings warmth and vulnerability. The numbers are electric and worth the watch. The story wanders too much and could be tighter. Nights of Cabiria remains more focused. A striking if uneven film...but for the dancing-a must see🎞️

METALSTORM THE DESTRUCTION OF JARED-SYN (1983) Dir. Charles Band Not an awards contender, but that was never the point. The 3D gimmick does the heavy lifting and makes it memorable. With Richard Moll clearly enjoying himself, it plays like Mad Max light with a sci fi twist.🎞️📽️

THE MAGUS (1968) Dir. Guy Green Difficult to classify and easy to resist yet compelling in its own way. Set on a remote island it follows a man drawn into a strange game of manipulation. Is it real or something else. The film refuses to explain and that may be the point. In a way, meta before meta 🎞️

BIG BUSINESS (1988) Dir. Jim Abrahams It may wobble at times, but the sheer fun of Midler and Tomlin sharing the sandbox carries it. The bold design and costumes lean into the era and give it a strong identity. Abrahams owns the farce. A lively and affectionate 80s comedy. Great for a fun night in!

OXYGEN (2021) Dir. Alexandre Aja A tightly wound film that thrives on claustrophobia and control. Aja keeps the tension high while the central performance grounds it. The pacing is sharp and effective -The pay off makes the ride worthwhile. Color me impressed this came from our streaming overlords🎞️📽️

THE LATHE OF HEAVEN (1980)Dir. David R. Loxton and Fred Barzyk A restrained yet imaginative adaptation that uses its limitations to its advantage. It offers a unique and reflective experience far from the spectacle of its time. Its melancholic yet hopeful perspective continues to leave an impression

DEAD END DRIVE-IN (1986) Dir. Brian Trenchard-Smith What starts as a Mad Max echo becomes something more. As it finds its footing it reveals ideas about control and youth culture. Strong design and confident direction carry it. One of the better Ozploitation efforts and sharper than expected.🎞️📽️

FIRE IN THE SKY (1993) Dir. Robert Lieberman More grounded than expected, this film explores the emotional fallout of an alien abduction. The cast brings weight to the story. Then it delivers one of the most disturbing abduction sequences in the genre. Worth a watch for that alone.🎞️📽️🎬

DUST DEVIL (1992) Dir. Richard Stanley A film that struggles with pacing but succeeds in atmosphere. The desolate sunlit African landscapes feel oppressive and strange. Strong work from Robert John Burke and Chelsea Field help anchor it. Imperfect but fascinating- worth the time. Stanley has style🎞️📽️

POSTCARDS FROM THE EDGE (1990) Dir. Mike Nichols Rewatch this gem. The acting is top tier and Fisher’s writing cuts deep while staying funny. Nichols keeps it grounded and MacLaine and Streep are unforgettable. It's a Hollywood story that earns every laugh and ache. Do it for the endolphin rush.🎞️

DEATH BECOMES HER (1992) Dir. Robert Zemeckis Still a standout and worth revisiting. The cast commits fully to the heightened tone, and the film delivers on its concept with style. The effects and production design hold up well, and the joy of these performances carries it every time. Now, a warning

KRONOS (1957) Dir. Kurt Neumann A low budget film that creaks under its limitations yet survives on a clever idea. A giant robot arrives to harvest Earth’s energy and resources, growing big as it consumes. For the 50s that feels oddly ahead of its time. The concept still works. Time for a remake ?🎞️📽️

HOMICIDAL (1961) Dir. William Castle What may have begun as a riff on Psycho soon becomes its own thing as William Castle delivers a true shocker. The film uses subtext more than expected to slowly build tension and dread. Strong performances help carry it to a surprisingly effective finish. Bravo🎞️📽️

VIY (1967) Dir. Konstantin Ershov & Georgiy Kropachyov This underseen film creates haunting tableaux that merge the beautiful with the terrifying. Immersive and hypnotic the film eases you into a world that quickly becomes quite strange. The imagery lingers long after. One to add to your list.🎞️📽️

DREAMSCAPE (1984) Dir. Joseph Ruben Yes it feels very much of its time yet it remains a fun ride. Blending horror action and sci fi with conspiracy elements it is buoyed by a charming yet smarmy Dennis Quaid and Kate Capshaw..and that snake-man still fuels nightmares for those who saw it too young🎞️📽️

BEYOND THE BLACK RAINBOW (2010) Dir. Panos Cosmatos A film that immediately set its creator apart. The production design and pacing create a surreal atmosphere that lingers. Beneath the visuals sits a quiet critique shaped through genre language. Both controlled and strange. I look forward to more🎞️📽️

THE BEES (1978) Dir. Alfredo Zacarías Not a great film, but that's part of the charm. Riding the wave of killer bee panic, it offers John Saxon in work mode and John Carradine drifting through. Add stock footage and rough effects and there is enough here to enjoy if you meet it on its own terms🎞️📽️

SATAN’S SCHOOL FOR GIRLS (1973) Dir. David Lowell Rich A flawed TV effort that still manages to entertain. It may be quite mild in places yet it holds together enough to make it memorable. TIMES SQUARE (1980) Dir. Allan Moyle Not quite great but very close. The plot stumbles yet the characters endure. Set at the dawn of the 80s it feels like the flip side of glossy Hollywood musical fare, grounding the "youth in trouble" story in punk attitude, emotional honesty and a grimy 80' NYC.🎞️📽️

OSCAR (1991) Dir. John Landis I might go to movie prison for this but I enjoy this borad over the top farce. The supporting cast alone makes it worth watching. The pacing wobbles, yet there are enough laughs to justify a revisit. It did not change Stallone’s career but it made me laugh.🎞️📽️

EMBRYO (1976) Dir. Ralph Nelson We should have learned by now. Another mad scientist creates life and chaos follows. There are strong ideas here about the ethics and results of genetic tampering but the film drags and never fully lands. Still it is compelling, with a standout Barbara Carrera🎞️📽️

THE LOST WORLD (1925) Dir. Harry O. Hoyt What cannot be overstated is the lasting impact of this silent classic. It brought dinosaurs to life and helped shape cinema itself. Even now the effects inspire real awe. A hundred years on it still feels magical. If you have not seen it you should.🎞️📽️

THE MEDUSA TOUCH (1978) Dir. Jack Gold Interesting and grounded take on psychic power and telekinesis. Richard Burton anchors a story where thought becomes a weapon. The tone is even and deliberate and the payoff lands with force. A film that earns its impact and lingers because it feels possible.

BAD RONALD (1974) Dir. Buzz Kulik It could have been a minor TV oddity. Instead it's a fondly remembered classic. The premise alone is disturbing- an off kilter boy living within the walls of a house. What starts as concealment turns into obsession as a new family moves in. Totally compelling.🎞️📽️

CARRIE (1976) Dir. Brian De Palma A stone cold classic, yet I urge you to watch it again. This is what happens when acting cinematography direction design and score align perfectly. It holds up beautifully and the compassion for Sissy Spacek’s Carrie makes the ending all the more powerful.

EYES WITHOUT A FACE (1960) Dir. Georges Franju An elegantly disturbing film that deserves wider viewing. This French classic shows what happens when vanity overrides morality. The result is obsession that harms those closest. Its quiet horror lingers and imagery still chills. Haunting but also fun🎞️📽️

FUN WITH DICK AND JANE (1977) Dir. Ted Kotcheff Oil crisis, unemployment, cost of living and the rich winning. Sound familiar? This film had something to say about it in 1977 even if it was not well heard. What remains is a very funny ride with Fonda and Segal carrying the comedy with ease. 🎞️📽️

THE TERMINAL MAN (1974) Dir. Mike Hodges Hmm is this the future tech visionaries promise us. Brain implants meant to control violent seizures lead to darker consequences for George Segal. FIEND WITHOUT A FACE (1958) Dir. Arthur Crabtree It takes its time getting there but the finale makes it worthwhile. Invisible monsters born from rogue science prey on their victims in gruesome fashion. The last act erupts with gory effects that remain a treat for classic horror lovers.🎞️📽️

BEDKNOBS AND BROOMSTICKS (1971) Dir. Robert Stevenson This Disney adventure deserves more love. A trainee witch a charming con man and three children defend the Dorset coast during World War II. THE KINDRED (1987) Dir. Jeffrey Obrow and Stephen Carpenter The story can feel more complicated than it needs to be yet the creature effects and creeping mood keep the film entertaining. Its practical monsters deliver the goods and the whole thing plays well as a relaxed weekend horror choice.🎞️📽️

Z.P.G. (ZERO POPULATION GROWTH) (1972) Dir. Michael Campus A bleak vision where environmental collapse pushes governments to ban childbirth. The consolation prize is robot babies that simulate family life. It sounds absurd yet the film treats it seriously and the result is quietly unsettling.🎞️📽️

DEAD HEAT (1988) Dir. Mark Goldblatt Flawed and sometimes ridiculous yet hard to resist. The leads play well off each other and the solid goo-soaked wet puppet practical effects do the heavy lifting. If you want serious horror look elsewhere. If you want messy 80s fun you are in the right place.🎞️📽️

DARK NIGHT OF THE SCARECROW (1981) Dir. Frank De Felitta A surprisingly powerful horror film that builds dread with conviction while outclassing many slashers of its era.
